The most common symptoms of isolated sphenoid inflammatory lesions are headache, ophtalmological and nasal symptoms. Delayed diagnosis may occur due to its nonspecific symptoms. The disease requires appropriate and good imaging technique for diagnosis. The objective of the study was to discuss different pathologies of isolated sphenoid inflammatory lesions. Methods: From 2008 to 2017, we performed surgery on 27 patients with isolated sphenoid inflammatory diseases. The presenting signs and symptoms, radiological studies, operative findings, and clinical outcomes were retrospectively reviewed and analyzed. Results: 27 cases were identified at tertiary hospital of King Fahad Specialist Hospital Dammam. 12 bacterial sphenoid sinusitis, 4 allergic fungal sinusitis, 4 fungal balls, 2 invasive fungal sinusitis, 3 pediatric (2 ...

The parameters include patient history, clinical assessments and histopathological examinations, which were supplemented with radiological investigations. In addition, demographic information and histopathological examinations for patients, who underwent surgical excision was analyzed for correlation with clinical diagnosis. Results: The reported cases are 55 males and 35 females with a median follow-up period of 12 months, ranging from 2-72 months. Nasal obstruction is the major symptom 34 (38%), 25 (27.8%) cases were reported with nasal mass a...

Primary ES commonly occurs in early childhood or adolescence. It may present with skeletal and extraskeletal forms. The extraskeletal form is rarely encountered in the head and neck region and is extremely rare in the sinonasal tract. This is a case report of sinonasal ES in a 13-year-old female patient who presented with a 7-month history of right nasal obstruction, anosmia, intermittent epistaxis, snoring, and hearing loss. Clinical examination revealed a right nasal mass pushing the septum to the left side and extending to the nasopharynx. Endoscopic biopsy and histopathological analysis showed a small blue cell tumor suggestive of ES. The patient was treated with surgery, radiotherapy, and chemotherapy. After a follow-up of 5 years, the patient remains recurrence-free with excellent functional status and quality of life.

The clinical presentations, radiologic findings, histologic features and immunophenotype of 9 cases of DNT were analyzed. The age of patients ranged from 12 to 51 years (mean age = 32 years). Most presented with partial seizures, sometimes accompanied by transient aphasia, agraphia and decreased visual acuity. One case was asymptomatic and discovered incidentally during a routine check-up. All patients had no neurological deficit found on physical examination. All tumors were located in the supratentorial cerebral cortex. There was no peritumoral edema or space-occupying effect on radiologic examination. The tumors involved either frontal lobe (number = 4), temporal lobe (number = 4), frontoparietal lobe (number = 1) . Two cases showed cystic changes. Two histologic variants of DNT were recognized: simple (number = 3) and complex (number = 6). Simple variant was composed ...
