They are light in weight, affordable and have the potential to provide a similar strength like the traditional metallic objects. As the demand for polymer products is increasing rapidly, its characterization and evaluation of mechanical properties become essential for making a reliable, scientific and cost-effective product design. Recently the incorporation of biopolymers in the global market has made this industry more attractive to consumers and government bodies. But the main challenge lies in its characterization as plastics and polymers found in nature or synthesized artificially have a wide range of physical and chemical properties. So, a particular set of instruments that can evaluate the properties of a group of polymers, may not be usable for a different group with the same accuracy and technique. Researchers are working incessantly to find out effective methods for this purpose and many of them are successful in finding some crucial properties of polymers like strength, elastic modulus, viscosity, hardness etc. The present work briefly discusses the superiority of polymer materials and the research work that has been carried out so far for the characterization of the same. Study on the biopolymer, its characterization and necessity in the context of environmental sustainability are also included in this literature.

The tetrapods have four legs with hexagonal cross-section. Interpenetrating growth was observed in some of these nanotetrapods. Multipod ZnO nanoforms were produced at higher temperature. The optical characterizations such as optical absorbance, photoluminescence and Raman spectroscopy reveal excellent crystal qualities of these nanoforms. The field emission studies indicated that these nanoforms could be utilized in field emission based devices.

Research paper thumbnail of Corrosion behaviour of electroless NiP coating in artificial blood plasma

Advances in Materials and Processing Technologies, Mar 19, 2023

The corrosion behaviour of electroless NiP coatings deposited on A3 steel in simulated acid rain ... more The corrosion behaviour of electroless NiP coatings deposited on A3 steel in simulated acid rain at pH53?5, 4?0, 4?5, 5?0, 5?5 and 6?0 were investigated by weight loss test and electrochemical test. The protection of A3 steel by NiP coating was discussed, and 1Cr18Ni9Ti austenitic stainless steel was used for comparison. The results indicate that the weight loss of the three materials increased, and the corrosion resistance of NiP coating decreased, with decreasing pH value of the acid rain solution. The corrosion resistance of A3 steel can be significantly improved with the protection of NiP coating, which showed better corrosion resistance than 1Cr18Ni9Ti stainless steel.

The three factor was taken into consideration, i.e. concentration of the Nickel Sulphate, Sodium Hypophosphite and Sodium Tungstate Dihydrate.Central Composite Design modelling was done with the help of total 20 runs that were conducted in the design, with mass deposition per unit area as the response parameter. The optimized sample was evaluated from the Design of Experiments based on Central Composite design. From where we examined the individual levels of the coatings, ANOVA, Examination of Normal Plot of Residual, Predicted and Actual plot and Second order 3-D and Contour plot showing interaction for Response Surface Mass Deposition per Unit Area.It was found that the optimized ascoated value for mass deposition per unit area has the significant process parameters, the value is linear in nature and it has highest response which is of 134.055×10-4 gm/cm 2 .

Research paper thumbnail of Predicting electroless Ni–Co–P coating using response surface method

The International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology, May 29, 2012

The deposited mass per unit area of the substrate has been considered as the response variable. The individual as well as combined effects of the process parameters on the response variable has been studied. The bath temperature and the interaction of cobalt source concentration and reducing agent concentration have been found to be significant through regression analysis and Student's t test. Mathematical modelling has been carried out using a second-order response surface model with central composite design to take into account the effect of curvature in the predicted response. The equation for response surface has been determined using MATLAB software package. The response surface plots show that the rate of deposition increases significantly with the rise in temperature while the cobalt source concentration and reducing agent concentration have an interactive effect which influences the rate of deposition. The test of reliability for the predicting response surface equation shows that the equation gives an excellent fitting to the observed values.

The number of internet assessment vendors has increased dramatically, and they differ widely in offerings, capabilities, technology, assessment expertise, customer support and other factors. Choosing an appropriate vendor capable of fulfilling various needs and become a value-added partner can seem somewhat daunting. Conventional approaches for selection and evaluation of vendors separately tend to be less effective in dealing with the imprecise of attributes assessment individually. Hence, this study aims to propose an effective integrated fuzzy multi-attribute group decision making (FMAGDM) approach to deal both qualitative and quantitative attributes associated with internet assessment vendor selection criteria's.
