The purpose of this research was to analyze and determine the performance of a ball mill machine ... more The purpose of this research was to analyze and determine the performance of a ball mill machine for refining porang flour. Research was conducted at PT Daud Teknik Maju Pratama from January-May 2023 by testing a machine with two treatment factors, namely rotational speed (21.2 and 41.6 rpm) and processing time (0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2 h). The testing was carried out using 150 g sample for each treatment in triplicates. The response variables included capacity, percentage of size reduction, material losses, engine power, and flour quality. Results showed that the optimum capacity of the ball mill was 12.5 kg/batch. The highest size reduction (96.27%) and lowest material loss (3.73%) was obtained at 21.2 rpm and 0.5 h of milling process. Milling at 41.6 rpm for 2 h produced the best flour quality with moisture content of 11.87% and yield of fine flower (100-mesh) of 63.97%. The power requirements of electric motor was 0.8063 kW at 21.2 rpm and 0.9101 kW at 41.6 rpm. The best milling capacity (1.56 g/min) was resulted at speed of 62.27% CS. The ball mill machine is superior as compared to a disk mill which was not able to grind the glucomannan crystals up to 100-mesh size.

Carbohydrates are basic food needs that must be met, in Indonesia there is the potential for various alternative foods. One of the alternative food ingredients producing carbohydrates is hotong. Hotong is a plant that is often found in Indonesia but has post-harvest constraints, namely in the sowing process. Therefore, research was conducted to determine the performance of an abrasive roll type grinding machine with the characteristics of hotong seeds. The research was conducted at PT. Daud Teknik Maju Pratama in November 2022. The treatment of hotong seeds that are sprayed as many as three passes with various levels of rpm speed, namely 806, 940, and 1128 rpm and carried out three repetitions at each rpm. The performance test results of the crushing machine showed the highest scattered capacity and shrinkage at a rotating speed of 1128 rpm, the highest yield and effectiveness of skin separation at a speed of 806 rpm, while at the highest polishing quality at a speed of 940 rpm. Rotating speed affects the sowing results, the faster the engine rotation speed, the quality and capacity of the sowing will increase. In addition, the tilt angle of the machine also affects the result of the sowing capacity. The terminal velocity value is influenced by the weight of the hotong seeds, the higher the weight on the sample, the higher the terminal velocity value obtained.

The three sprayer units are capable of producing fine granules (droplets) that can enter the stomata of cucumbers. This study aims to compare the results of spraying performance using the three methods of liquid fertilization in cucumber cultivation. The research method used is indoor testing in the Sprayer Laboratory to determine the value of the performance parameters of each method of liquid fertilization and outdoor testing to apply liquid fertilizer droplets to cucumbers and determine their effect on the growth and production of cucumbers. The results showed that the first fastest appearance of the flower and the first fruit was in the treatment using electric sprayers and air blowers at 24.6 days after planting (DAP) and 31.5 DAP. This treatment also produces cucumbers with the largest diameter, length, and weight of the fruit of 2.97 cm, 26.10 cm, and 298.28 grams. The accuracy of the dose of liquid fertilization application using an electric sprayer and air blower is 63.41%, an electric sprayer of 59.56%, and the mist blower of 29.90%.

Data was collected through literature review, focus group discussions, interviews, observation, and field verification. The results show that quality assurance, technology, and resources are the main dimensions with a strong influence on sustainability. Based on the findings, 12 independent, 20 linkage, 23 dependent, and 16 autonomous sub-elements were identified. Strategic alternative formulations were developed using interpretive structural modeling and strategic assumption surfacing and testing methods. This study provides insights for sustainable development strategies in the robusta coffee agroindustry.

The objective of the research is to determine optimum liquid fertilizing on red spinach cultivati... more The objective of the research is to determine optimum liquid fertilizing on red spinach cultivation in a greenhouse. The research was conducted from March to April 2019 at the Sprayer Laboratory and in a greenhouse to determine parameters of droplet diameter, droplet density, effective spraying width, effective spraying debit, and harvested biomass weight. Spraying tools and material are SWAN F16 electric sprayer, air blower, and liquid fertilizer. Results of the research showed that the use of the electric sprayer and the use of the electric sprayer and the air blower produced minimum droplet diameter, maximum droplet density, maximum effective spraying width, and minimum effective spraying debit were 311-micron meter, 706 droplet cm-2 , 56 cm, and 1.99 litre min-1 and 405.14-micron meter, 361 droplet cm-2 , 72 cm, and 2.21 litre min-1 in average respectively. The use of the electric sprayer has produced maximum harvested biomass weight of 7.17 g/plant in average on walking speed of 0.9 m/s with 1.97 litre ha-1 liquid fertilizer dosage. The use of the electric sprayer and the air blower have produced maximum harvested biomass weight of 4.55 g/plant in average on walking speed of 0.5 m s-1 with 3 litre ha-1 liquid fertilizer dosage.

Mesin pengabut yang dapat bergerak dan berpindah dengan mudah (mobile sprayer machine) perlu diop... more Mesin pengabut yang dapat bergerak dan berpindah dengan mudah (mobile sprayer machine) perlu dioperasikan di antara barisan tanaman tebu mengikuti pertumbuhan vegetatif dan generatif tebu hingga menjelang dipanen guna mengaplikasikan droplets nutrisi ke stomata tebu sehingga produktivitas tebu (TCH) dan kadar gula tebu (rendemen giling tebu) meningkat. Penelitian bertujuan untuk merekayasa mobile sprayer machine. Hasil rekayasa adalah prototipe A (mobile sprayer machine berbasis sepeda motor). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa debit penyemprotan meningkat dari 3,79 6,71 l/menit pada tekanan 2 7 kgf/cm 2 , sehingga lama pengoperasian mesin berkapasitas 50 l adalah 7,46 13,20 menit. Hasil ujicoba di areal kebun tebu PG Subang menunjukkan bahwa prototipe A sulit dikendalikan, namun masih dapat melaju di antara baris tanaman tebu dengan kecepatan maju rata-rata 0,32 0,76 m/detik pada beban angkut cairan 100 dan 50 kg. Prototipe A diubah menjadi prototipe B (mobile sprayer machine berbasis sepeda motor roda tiga). Hasil uji coba di areal kebun tebu PG Subang menunjukkan bahwa prototipe B dapat melaju dengan lancar sebesar 2,15 m/detik pada lahan datar, namun hanya mampu melaju dengan kecepatan maju rata-rata 0,24 m/detik ketika mesin dioperasikan di antara barisan tanaman tebu ratoon berumur 3 bulan.

Umumnya hama dibasmi dengan mengaplikasikan pestisida menggunakan mesin pengabut yang dijinjing oleh petani sehingga tidak efektif menjangkau tanaman yang tinggi dan asap panas dari mesin pengabut dapat merusak daun kelapa sawit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang alat yang mampu mengoptimumkan pengaplikasian kabut pestisida ke tanaman kelapa sawit pada berbagai ketinggian tertentu. Perancangan alat pengabut semprot bergerak juga bertujuan memudahkan operator dalam mengaplikasikan kabut pestisida pada berbagai ketinggian dan sekaligus dapat mengurangi dampak kerusakan daun kelapa sawit. Penelitian dimulai dengan uji kinerja penyemprotan kabut pestisida di laboratorium dan uji kinerja pengaplikasian menggunakan pengabut semprot bergerak di lahan. Asap pestisida dari mesin pengabut dioptimumkan dengan menggabungkan penyemprot elektrik dan penyembur udara sehingga terbentuk kabut pestisida yang dapat menurunkan suhu asap pestisida dan menambah jangkauan pengabutan. Kinerja penggabungan output dari mesin pengabut, penyemprot elektrik, dan penyembur udara pada menghasilkan diameter droplet sebesar 94,41 μm, kerapatan droplet 365,44 droplet/cm 2 , jangkauan pengabutan efektif 8,63 m, lebar pengabutan efektif 0,91 m, dan penurunan suhu rata-rata 4°C.

The international community is progressively building green ecosystems that maintain an effective climate to create increased opportunities to promote low-carbon and climate-resilient development paths, and there are various kinds of drivers or indicators as key success factors in the custom and optional coffee agroindustry sector that must be considered following the social, environmental and system conditions that are implemented to achieve sustainable productivity. This paper aims to analyse the key dimensions of selected (literature) articles from 2010 to 2020 using Harzing’s or Perish, Mendeley, Microsoft Excel and Vosviewer applications by identifying, extracting and synthesising several scientific articles related to agriculture. Coffee. Industry to be the basis of a sustainable future research agenda. The determination of the sustainable dimension refers to the need for future research (future research agenda) to be carried out, while the processing and critical review of the paper (a critical review) is carried out by classifying the key dimensions related to the total factor of green productivity. The results obtained on network overlay and density visualisation resulted in further research: (1) coffee consumption, (2) sustainable supply chain, (3) environmental sustainability, (4) green coffee beans, and (5) speciality or fine coffee.

Pest control in cabbage cultivation generally using pesticides by spraying all areas of cabbage p... more Pest control in cabbage cultivation generally using pesticides by spraying all areas of cabbage plantation by using a backpack sprayer (knapsack sprayer, semi-automatic sprayer, or electric sprayer). This type of sprayer has difficult to set a consistent spraying duration on each cabbage which affects the accuracy of its application dosage, inconsistence spray pressure affects the droplets produced, and also backpack sprayers can cause injury and harm the health of farmers. This research was conducted to design and analyze an autonomous robot that can precisely spray pesticide on cabbage with appropriate spraying position, droplets diameter, and application dosage. The robot can run straight along the cabbage beds using a wall-follower method and successfully detect and spray pesticide solution on each cabbage by using machine vision with an accuracy of 88% and 80% accuracy of spraying position. The application dosage (L/ha) produced by the robot can approach the reference value compared with the farmer.

The plant biomass transported from cassava fields at harvest losses several nutrients. This study aimed to determine the nitrogen (N), phosphorous (P), and potassium (K) nutrient content of plant parts of cassava and the nutrient balance. The cassava varieties of UK1 Agritan, Malang 4, Barokah, UJ-5, and Mangu were grown in 3 replications using a completely randomized design. Two harvesting methods, the farmer’s harvest method (FHM) and the harvest method introduced (HMI) were applied. The FHM transported all tuber and other plant parts biomass, and the HMI transported all tuber and 60% of the stem from the cassava field. Each replication was one row of plants 20 m long and a spacing of 1 m. The cassava fertilized at 169 kg N, 84 kg P, and 170 kg K per hectare in grooves around the plant. Parachute rice transplanting is a simple and practical rice transplanting method. It can be done ... more Parachute rice transplanting is a simple and practical rice transplanting method. It can be done manually or mechanically, with various possible designs of machines or tools. This research aimed at quantitatively formulating related factors to the planting depth and standing of rice seedling. Parachute seedlings of rice were grown at several sizes of parachute soil bulb sizes. The trays were specially designed with a 3D printer having bulb sizes 7, 8, 9, 10 mm in square sides and 15 mm depth. At seedling ages of 8-12 days after sowing the seedling bulbs were drops into puddled soil. Soil hardness was set at 3 levels of hardness, measured in hardness index using golf ball test. Angle of dropping was set at 3 levels: 0 o , 30 o and 45 o from the vertical axis. The height of droppings was set at 100 cm, 75 cm, and 50 cm. The relationship between bulb size, height of dropping, soil hardness, dropping angle and planting depth was formulated with ANN. Most of input variables did not significantly affect the planting depth, except that hard soil significantly differs from mild soil and soft soil. The dropping also resulted in various positions of the planted seedlings: vertical standing, sloped, and falling. However, at any position of the planted seedlings, the seedlings would recover themselves into normally vertical position. With this result, the design of planting machinery, as well as the manual planting operation, can be made easier.

Sea ant-lion ("yutuk") in research locations (Cilacap and Kebumen beaches) were catched by local ... more Sea ant-lion ("yutuk") in research locations (Cilacap and Kebumen beaches) were catched by local fishermen utilized a traditional catching tool ("sorok"), or by their hands. Utilizing of "sorok" for "yutuk" catching was done 1 kilometer along the beach with duration of 1 hour. They obtained yield of 1 kg up to 1.5 kg. The utilizing of "sorok" was about 5 cm depth to lift up the "yutuk", and then it was catched by their hand and entered it into a basket net. The catching results were three species: Emerita emeritus, Hippa adactyla, and Albunea symmysta. Survey's results showed that "yutuk" dimensions were length of (1.70-5.00) cm and width of (1.40-3.70) cm. Digging ability to the beach sands of the "yutuk" was (1.50-5.50) cm. Power requirement for beach sands digging was determined by measured pooling force and cutting area of the beach sands. Research results showed that the amount of pooling draft was (0.05-0.28) kgf/cm 2. It can be concluded that parameters for designing of mechanical "yutuk" catcher were: (1) screen dimension for "yutuk" and sands separating is less than 1.40 cm, (2) digger depth was more than 5.50 cm, and (3) pooling draft was more than 0.28 kgf/cm 2 .

Modification of the Q-meter, by directing the AC into DC current is considered to have advantage, such as easiness to measure and stability of the measured properties. This paper is devoted to the discussion on the performance of the modified apparatus and characteristics of the measured value on pepper. The results show that the modified dielectric properties meter can be applied satisfactorily in the frequency range of 6-26 MHz. There was still instability of measurement at frequency 6 MHz and 10 MHz, but significantly more stable than measurement with the unmodified apparatus. Carbohydrates are basic food needs that must be met, in Indonesia there is the potential for various alternative foods. One of the alternative food ingredients producing carbohydrates is hotong. Hotong is a plant that is often found in Indonesia but has post-harvest constraints, namely in the sowing process. Therefore, research was conducted to determine the performance of an abrasive roll type grinding machine with the characteristics of hotong seeds. The research was conducted at PT. Daud Teknik Maju Pratama in November 2022. The treatment of hotong seeds that are sprayed as many as three passes with various levels of rpm speed, namely 806, 940, and 1128 rpm and carried out three repetitions at each rpm. The performance test results of the crushing machine showed the highest scattered capacity and shrinkage at a rotating speed of 1128 rpm, the highest yield and effectiveness of skin separation at a speed of 806 rpm, while at the highest polishing quality at a speed of 940 rpm. Rotating speed affects the sowing results, the faster the engine rotation speed, the quality and capacity of the sowing will increase. In addition, the tilt angle of the machine also affects the result of the sowing capacity. The terminal velocity value is influenced by the weight of the hotong seeds, the higher the weight on the sample, the higher the terminal velocity value obtained.

The three sprayer units are capable of producing fine granules (droplets) that can enter the stomata of cucumbers. This study aims to compare the results of spraying performance using the three methods of liquid fertilization in cucumber cultivation. The research method used is indoor testing in the Sprayer Laboratory to determine the value of the performance parameters of each method of liquid fertilization and outdoor testing to apply liquid fertilizer droplets to cucumbers and determine their effect on the growth and production of cucumbers. The results showed that the first fastest appearance of the flower and the first fruit was in the treatment using electric sprayers and air blowers at 24.6 days after planting (DAP) and 31.5 DAP. This treatment also produces cucumbers with the largest diameter, length, and weight of the fruit of 2.97 cm, 26.10 cm, and 298.28 grams. The accuracy of the dose of liquid fertilization application using an electric sprayer and air blower is 63.41%, an electric sprayer of 59.56%, and the mist blower of 29.90%.

Data was collected through literature review, focus group discussions, interviews, observation, and field verification. The results show that quality assurance, technology, and resources are the main dimensions with a strong influence on sustainability. Based on the findings, 12 independent, 20 linkage, 23 dependent, and 16 autonomous sub-elements were identified. Strategic alternative formulations were developed using interpretive structural modeling and strategic assumption surfacing and testing methods. This study provides insights for sustainable development strategies in the robusta coffee agroindustry.

The research was conducted from March to April 2019 at the Sprayer Laboratory and in a greenhouse to determine parameters of droplet diameter, droplet density, effective spraying width, effective spraying debit, and harvested biomass weight. Spraying tools and material are SWAN F16 electric sprayer, air blower, and liquid fertilizer. Results of the research showed that the use of the electric sprayer and the use of the electric sprayer and the air blower produced minimum droplet diameter, maximum droplet density, maximum effective spraying width, and minimum effective spraying debit were 311-micron meter, 706 droplet cm-2 , 56 cm, and 1.99 litre min-1 and 405.14-micron meter, 361 droplet cm-2 , 72 cm, and 2.21 litre min-1 in average respectively. The use of the electric sprayer has produced maximum harvested biomass weight of 7.17 g/plant in average on walking speed of 0.9 m/s with 1.97 litre ha-1 liquid fertilizer dosage. The use of the electric sprayer and the air blower have produced maximum harvested biomass weight of 4.55 g/plant in average on walking speed of 0.5 m s-1 with 3 litre ha-1 liquid fertilizer dosage.

Penelitian bertujuan untuk merekayasa mobile sprayer machine. Hasil rekayasa adalah prototipe A (mobile sprayer machine berbasis sepeda motor). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa debit penyemprotan meningkat dari 3,79 6,71 l/menit pada tekanan 2 7 kgf/cm 2 , sehingga lama pengoperasian mesin berkapasitas 50 l adalah 7,46 13,20 menit. Hasil ujicoba di areal kebun tebu PG Subang menunjukkan bahwa prototipe A sulit dikendalikan, namun masih dapat melaju di antara baris tanaman tebu dengan kecepatan maju rata-rata 0,32 0,76 m/detik pada beban angkut cairan 100 dan 50 kg. Prototipe A diubah menjadi prototipe B (mobile sprayer machine berbasis sepeda motor roda tiga). Hasil uji coba di areal kebun tebu PG Subang menunjukkan bahwa prototipe B dapat melaju dengan lancar sebesar 2,15 m/detik pada lahan datar, namun hanya mampu melaju dengan kecepatan maju rata-rata 0,24 m/detik ketika mesin dioperasikan di antara barisan tanaman tebu ratoon berumur 3 bulan.

Umumnya hama dibasmi dengan mengaplikasikan pestisida menggunakan mesin pengabut yang dijinjing oleh petani sehingga tidak efektif menjangkau tanaman yang tinggi dan asap panas dari mesin pengabut dapat merusak daun kelapa sawit. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah merancang alat yang mampu mengoptimumkan pengaplikasian kabut pestisida ke tanaman kelapa sawit pada berbagai ketinggian tertentu. Perancangan alat pengabut semprot bergerak juga bertujuan memudahkan operator dalam mengaplikasikan kabut pestisida pada berbagai ketinggian dan sekaligus dapat mengurangi dampak kerusakan daun kelapa sawit. Penelitian dimulai dengan uji kinerja penyemprotan kabut pestisida di laboratorium dan uji kinerja pengaplikasian menggunakan pengabut semprot bergerak di lahan. Asap pestisida dari mesin pengabut dioptimumkan dengan menggabungkan penyemprot elektrik dan penyembur udara sehingga terbentuk kabut pestisida yang dapat menurunkan suhu asap pestisida dan menambah jangkauan pengabutan. Kinerja penggabungan output dari mesin pengabut, penyemprot elektrik, dan penyembur udara pada menghasilkan diameter droplet sebesar 94,41 μm, kerapatan droplet 365,44 droplet/cm 2 , jangkauan pengabutan efektif 8,63 m, lebar pengabutan efektif 0,91 m, dan penurunan suhu rata-rata 4°C.

The international community is progressively building green ecosystems that maintain an effective climate to create increased opportunities to promote low-carbon and climate-resilient development paths, and there are various kinds of drivers or indicators as key success factors in the custom and optional coffee agroindustry sector that must be considered following the social, environmental and system conditions that are implemented to achieve sustainable productivity. This paper aims to analyse the key dimensions of selected (literature) articles from 2010 to 2020 using Harzing’s or Perish, Mendeley, Microsoft Excel and Vosviewer applications by identifying, extracting and synthesising several scientific articles related to agriculture. This type of sprayer has difficult to set a consistent spraying duration on each cabbage which affects the accuracy of its application dosage, inconsistence spray pressure affects the droplets produced, and also backpack sprayers can cause injury and harm the health of farmers. This research was conducted to design and analyze an autonomous robot that can precisely spray pesticide on cabbage with appropriate spraying position, droplets diameter, and application dosage. The robot can run straight along the cabbage beds using a wall-follower method and successfully detect and spray pesticide solution on each cabbage by using machine vision with an accuracy of 88% and 80% accuracy of spraying position. The application dosage (L/ha) produced by the robot can approach the reference value compared with the farmer.

The cassava varieties of UK1 Agritan, Malang 4, Barokah, UJ-5, and Mangu were grown in 3 replications using a completely randomized design. Two harvesting methods, the farmer’s harvest method (FHM) and the harvest method introduced (HMI) were applied. It can be done manually or mechanically, with various possible designs of machines or tools. This research aimed at quantitatively formulating related factors to the planting depth and standing of rice seedling. Parachute seedlings of rice were grown at several sizes of parachute soil bulb sizes. The trays were specially designed with a 3D printer having bulb sizes 7, 8, 9, 10 mm in square sides and 15 mm depth. At seedling ages of 8-12 days after sowing the seedling bulbs were drops into puddled soil. Soil hardness was set at 3 levels of hardness, measured in hardness index using golf ball test. Angle of dropping was set at 3 levels: 0 o , 30 o and 45 o from the vertical axis. The height of droppings was set at 100 cm, 75 cm, and 50 cm. The relationship between bulb size, height of dropping, soil hardness, dropping angle and planting depth was formulated with ANN. Most of input variables did not significantly affect the planting depth, except that hard soil significantly differs from mild soil and soft soil. The dropping also resulted in various positions of the planted seedlings: vertical standing, sloped, and falling. However, at any position of the planted seedlings, the seedlings would recover themselves into normally vertical position. With this result, the design of planting machinery, as well as the manual planting operation, can be made easier.

Utilizing of "sorok" for "yutuk" catching was done 1 kilometer along the beach with duration of 1 hour. They obtained yield of 1 kg up to 1.5 kg. The utilizing of "sorok" was about 5 cm depth to lift up the "yutuk", and then it was catched by their hand and entered it into a basket net. The catching results were three species: Emerita emeritus, Hippa adactyla, and Albunea symmysta. Survey's results showed that "yutuk" dimensions were length of (1.70-5.00) cm and width of (1.40-3.70) cm. Digging ability to the beach sands of the "yutuk" was (1.50-5.50) cm. Power requirement for beach sands digging was determined by measured pooling force and cutting area of the beach sands. Research results showed that the amount of pooling draft was (0.05-0.28) kgf/cm 2. It can be concluded that parameters for designing of mechanical "yutuk" catcher were: (1) screen dimension for "yutuk" and sands separating is less than 1.40 cm, (2) digger depth was more than 5.50 cm, and (3) pooling draft was more than 0.28 kgf/cm 2 .

Modification of the Q-meter, by directing the AC into DC current is considered to have advantage, such as easiness to measure and stability of the measured properties. This paper is devoted to the discussion on the performance of the modified apparatus and characteristics of the measured value on pepper. The results show that the modified dielectric properties meter can be applied satisfactorily in the frequency range of 6-26 MHz. There was still instability of measurement at frequency 6 MHz and 10 MHz, but significantly more stable than measurement with the unmodified apparatus. The apparatus shows a significant difference in the dielectric constant due to the difference in moisture content of the sample.
