Having emotional regulation abilities can help them to manage challenging emotional situations. Conscious and slow breathing is a physiological, emotional regulation strategy that is feasible for primary school students to learn. HRV biofeedback interventions focused on showing subjects to breathe such that their HRV numbers rise, improving their self-regulation. The HRV biofeedback intervention, focused on breathing, was conducted with primary education students aged between 7 and 11 years. The programme consisted of five biofeedback sessions, where students were taught to breathe six long and slow pairs of breaths per minute, to increase their HRV. After participation in the programme, students, regardless of gender, increased their HRV in a statistically significant fashion with a large effect, but this effect was not the same for all ages. HRV biofeedback interventions are rarely applied in schools and given the effectiveness of the intervention to improve HRV in children, the applied implications of our results i...

Whereas secure attachment is related to fewer internalizing and externalizing symptoms, the opposite is the case for the various insecure attachment styles. The aim of the two studies reported in this paper was to adapt and validate the CaMir-R (a self-report measure of attachment that has shown adequate psychometric properties) for use among Basque adolescents, and to analyse the relationship between attachment and internalizing and externalizing symptoms. In Study 1, the instrument was adapted using the back translation method and applied to a sample of 203 adolescents and young adults. Confirmatory factor analysis supported the theoretical dimensions of the scale, and its psychometric properties were found to be adequate. Conventionally, EC is managed with an early open cholecystectomy. However, recent advancement in percutaneous intervention and laparoscopic techniques have influenced our management of this biliary pathology. This study reviews the management and outcomes of EC in a regional centre. Methods: Retrospective analysis of a clinical database constituting all patients diagnosed with EC at a regional Australian hospital in NSW from Jan 2010 to July 2019. Inclusion criteria: sepsis, abdominal pain and radiological evidence of gas in the gallbladder wall, lumen, and pericholecystic tissue in the absence of an abnormal connection between the gallbladder and gastrointestinal tract. We investigated patient risk factors, management and outcomes. Results: 16 patients with EC were identified. The mean age of the cohort was 73 years old. The majority of patients had co-morbidity including type 2 diabetes and ischemic heart disease (56 and 62% respectively). Laparoscopic cholecystectomies were performed in 9 patients during their index admissions and 7 patients were managed with PTC. 5 patients required ICU admission for septic shock, and all were managed with PTC drain placement. Likewise, the studies focused on the biofeedback technique inform about its benefits on children’s cognitive, emotional and social areas. Taking into account the above mentioned, an intervention program based on biofeedbackwas designed and implemeted with the intention to improve the attentional levels and the emotional and behavioral regulation of girls and boys in Primary Education. In order to reach this goal, this work begins with a review of the scientific literature on this field. Moreover, an intervention program for emotional regulation based on Biofeedback was designed, implemented and evaluated. There are currently no Basque-language self-report instruments to provide valid and reliable measures of this construct. Thus, this paper describes the process of adapting and validating the Emotional Creativity Inventory (ECI) for the Basque-speaking population. The sample was comprised of 594 higher education students (388 women and 206 men) aged between 18 and 32 years old (M age = 20.47; SD = 2.48). The Basque version of the ECI was administered along with the TMMS-23, NEO PI-R, and PANAS. The results of exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses on the Basque ECI corroborated the original scale’s three-factor structure (preparedness, novelty, and effectiveness/authenticity). Those dimensions showed acceptable indexes of internal consistency (α = .80, .83, and .83) and temporal stability (r = .70, .69, and .74). The study also provided some evidence of external va...
