This paper analyzes how firms can deal with competitive challenges related to the diffusion of a new technological paradigm. The study reinforces the role of co-operative strategies in order to achieve satisfactory outcomes in innovation activity. In this terms, clusters, network firms and industrial districts have been appropriated structures to promote the inter-firm cooperation

As the focus of this study, the differences with the most impact include culture as well as the variety of landscapes and biodiversity found between the North and the South of the country. The assorted biomes across Brazilian territory deserve protection to preserve their ecological purpose and, thus, assure the collective well being. This paper will assess the South region and its biomes, generically outlining the current situation, as well as the initiatives underway and those yet to be initiated so as to help recover previous damage and preserve what is left. In addition to offering environmental data on the South region, this article will also analyze the BNDES’ role as the main engine for economic and social development in the country.

Unfettered deforestation causes serious environmental imbalances. While examining environmental degradation caused by human activities in all Brazilian biomes, we briefly analyze the situation in the Central-West Region, where important environmental areas require protection and agriculture is in constant expansion. This gap that exists between practicing agriculture, an activity that, historically, is largely responsible for environmental degradation, and the need to restore and preserve our forests, in fact, is solvable, if not in an ideal fashion, in a quite reasonable way. By implementing practices aimed at sustainable development, we can achieve a balance between the imperative need for development and economic progress, and the preservation of nature, thus, ensuring a fairer and better future for current and future generations.
