ABS based pumps are widely used in mining, construction and chemical industries. Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrenehasmuch application in the temperature range from -20 to 80°C. The ABS based polymer composites are used in submergible pumps due their important properties such as corrosion resistance, light weight, erosion resistance, etc. In the current work, the technique used for the fabrication of GFRP- ABS laminateis compression molding, as per the ASTM standard. The various tests are conducted as per Design of Experiments. Analysis of experimental data was performed using Minitab software and tests were conducted for Flexural strength, Inter Laminar Shear Stress, Tensile strength. Three factors areconsidered for the Design of Experiments namely, fibre-to-...

Research paper thumbnail of Thermal and Mechanical Properties of Vinyl Ester Hybrid Composites with Carbon Black and Glass Reinforcement

Advances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2021

Analysis of glass transition temperature, thermogravimetric analysis (TGA), degradation temperature, hardness, flexural strength, etc. is performed using differential scanning calorimeter, X-ray diffraction, tensile machine, and flexural machine, respectively. The scanning electron microscope was used for surface fracture studies. The degradation temperature reduces initially with the percentage of carbon black and then increases. Glass transition temperature increases with the percentage of carbon black while above 500°C temperature, the weight percentage of composite drops. The results also reveal that 4% of carbon with vinyl ester improved the tensile strength by 30%, hardness by 35%, flexural strength by 45%, flexural modulus by 66%, and interlaminate shear streng...

Structural components made from Aluminium and its alloys are vital to the aerospace industry and are important in other areas of transportation and structural materials. The oxides and sulphate are useful compounds of Aluminium based on its weight. In this work, an attempt has been made to utilize the combined effect of high cooling rate solidification, unique micro structural evolution mechanism of T6 heat treatment the advantages of hypereutectic Al-Si system alloyed with other elements such as Cu, Fe and Mg. In the present investigation, the binary alloys in the hypereutectic range viz. Al25Mg2Si has been selected as heat resistant Al-Si alloys. A systematic approach has been carried out to explore the micro structural features, mechanical and wear properties of as cast alloys.

To hold the long-term durability and to estimate the residual life of the composites under some hostile environments, it is an important issue to clarify the facture and/or the failure mechanism in each service conditions. Degradation of components made from polymeric materials occurs in a wide variety of environments and service conditions, and very often limits the service lifetime. Degradation occurs as the result of environment-dependent chemical or physical attack, often caused by a combination of degradation agents, and may involve several chemical and mechanical mechanisms. The main concern of this review will be to examine the causes of degradation of polymeric components from the completion of fabrication to ultimate failure.
