Abstract: The paper presents a multicriteria decision support system, called MultiDecision-2, whi... more Abstract: The paper presents a multicriteria decision support system, called MultiDecision-2, which consists of two independent parts- MKA-2 subsystem and MKO-2 subsystem. MultiDecision-2 software system supports the decision makers (DMs) in the solving process of different problems of multicriteria analysis and linear (continues and integer) problems of multicriteria optimization. The two subsystems MKA-2 and MKO-2 of of MultiDecision-2 are briefly described in the paper in the terms of the class of the problems being solved, the system structure, the operation with the interface modules for input data entry and the information about DM’s local preferences, as well as the operation with the interface modules for visualization of the current and final solutions.

We propose a learning-oriented interactive algorithm for solving multicriteria linear integer pro... more We propose a learning-oriented interactive algorithm for solving multicriteria linear integer programming (MCLIP) problems, considered as multicriteria decision making problems. At each iteration, the DM may partition the criteria set into at most seven classes, namely: improvement, improvement by a desired amount, deterioration, deterioration by at most a certain amount, nondeterioration, changes allowed within limits, and free changes. Based on the partition of the criteria set, two types of scalarizing problems are formulated – linear and mixed integer programming problems. One or more (weak) nondominated solutions of the continuous relaxation of MCLIP problem are computed at most of the iterations. A mixed-integer scalarizing problem is solved, only at some iterations, in order to find one or more (weak) nondominated or near (weak) nondominated solutions (close to the nondominated surface of the MCLIP problem). In MA and MO problems several criteria are simultaneously optimized. In the general case there does not exist one alternative(solution), which optimizes all the criteria. The solution of MA or MO problem is a set of alternatives, called a set of the non-dominating or of the Pareto optimal alternatives. Each alternative in this set could be a solution of the multicriteria problem. In order to select one alternative, it is necessary to have additional information set by the so-called decision maker (DM). The information that the DM provides reflects his/ her global preferences with respect to the quality of the alternative sought. The methods developed to solve MA problems, can be grouped in three separate classes: weighting methods, outranking methods and interactive methods. A survey of the systems, supporting decision making in multicriteria problems, which are develope... more A survey of the systems, supporting decision making in multicriteria problems, which are developed at the Institute of Information Technologies at Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IIT-BAS), is presented. It discusses the structure, the possibilities to process the input data, the participation of the Decision Maker (DM) in the control of the process of search and selection of (weak) Pareto optimal solutions, the visualization and documentation of the current and final results obtained. These systems include the interactive methods, developed at IIT-BAS for multicriteria decision making, which provide much wider possibilities to the DM to express his/her preferences with respect to the solution sought, and apply different strategies to decrease the waiting time for obtain new solutions in hard solved integer multicriteria problems.

The algorithm is characterized by polynomial-time computing complexity.
