AN ELECTION WITHOUT GUARANTEE One of most important values of our culture is, of course, liberty. Varied and uncountable are the ways used by men to highlight this supreme value. In fact, in the national anthem as well as in many political speeches, in the cinema, television, and many others ways of expression linked with art, politics and communication, liberty appears as a possibility of election that makes the ones who possess it more human and unhappy to those that are victim of the oppression and do not have the luck of being able to enjoy it-However, this paper pretends to think liberty beyond the scale of values that claim the speeches about moral, to consider a structural reading of the subject as an effect of the significant articulation. From this point of view, the act of choosing is an act without guarantee, an act in which the subject is not an agent but and effect, an act ruled by the laws of language.
