Pregnancy is an altered physiological state in women, which requires proper nourishment. During gestation, this vitamin also plays an important role in development of the fetus. Objective:To observe the serum vitamin D (25diohydroxycholicalciferol) levels and serum calcium levels in the maternal blood during the three trimesters. Design: Observational Cross sectional study. Study population: Rural Mothers from Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu South India. We used 50 antenatal blood samples as experimental group and 15 as control group. The age group included 20-40 years. Blood samples were collected from 50 antenatal mothers between 20 – 40 years age group, from Obstetrics and Gynecology OPD for their routine antenatal check-ups, after getting duly signed informed consent. Control group had 15 women in the same age group not pregnant. Results: The results were tabulated. The mean value of 25dihydroxy vi...

CP of sperm is a common procedure for the people who are in condition like infertility due to ejaculation issues, infections, undescended testicles, hormonal imbalance etc., Several literatures are there on whether CP impacts sperm chromosomal integrity or the usage of a specific and unique freezing-thawing strategy. The purpose of this article is to discuss and bring to focus the effects of freezing and thawing on human spermatozoa and the changes in Acrosome integrity, mitochondria, DNA integrity, and plasma membrane integrity. In this age of technological advancements, after being used to treat infertility, CP acquired populari...

These harms are because of the natural finding that smoking expands the degree of free radicals, consequently bringing about oxidative pressure. Accordingly, an increment of free radicals, DNA harm and lipid peroxidation in human sperm may happen to bring about impedance of sperm quality. nicotine organization in trial creatures was initiate to influence spermatogenesis, epididymal sperm count, motility and treating capability of sperms. Huge quantities of restorative herbs have been recorded in siddha framework that improve spermatogenesis and increment the nature of sperm. The present review gives an outline on the relationship between male richness incited by nicotine and defensive impacts of different natural plants on it. The paper additionally features the dynamic, common standards, and rough concentrates of...

It has been reported at suboptimal levels in gestation. The levels vary during various trimesters of pregnancy. This article focuses on the gestation week wise variations observed in the serum cholecalciferol levels during gestation. 100 venous blood samples were collected from singleton, non-smoking pregnancies. The samples were collected in the summer and winter seasons during various weeks of pregnancy. The samples were collected randomly in patients who were not supplemented with vitamin D. The serum cholecalciferol levels were observed to be deficient during the first trimester (below<30 ng/ml), there was an increase in the vitamin D levels in the second trimester (levels<30 ng/ml). During the third trimester, the levels increased gradually. The ratio of cases deficient during the first trimester was higher when compared to the second and third trimesters. The serum cholecalciferol levels remain deficient due to the foetal...

Sustained cocontraction of opposing agonist and antagonist muscles can cause repetitive and twisting movements, or abnormal postures. Cervical dystonia (CD), often referred to as spasmodic torticollis, is a type of focal dystonia involving the muscles of the neck and sometimes the shoulders. It is a relatively rare neurologic disorder. This condition frequently results in cervical pain and disability as well as impairments affecting postural control. This article reviews the etiology and pathophysiology of the disease as well as medical and physical therapist management for people with cervical dystonia.

Brain death is a permanent cessation of all functions of the brain in which though individual organs may function but lack of integrating function of the brain, lack of respiratory drive, consciousness, and cognition confirms to the definition that death is an irreversible cessation of functioning of the organism as a whole. In spite of medical and legal acceptance globally, the concept of brain death and brain-stem death is still unclear to many. Brain death is not promptly declared due to lack of awareness and doubts about the legal procedure of certification. Many brain-dead patients are kept on life supporting systems needlessly. An attempt has been made to highlight the history and concept of brain death and brain-stem death; the anatomical and physiological basis of brain-stem death, and criteria to diagnose brain-stem death in India.

Its content is derived from the arterioles and venules of inferior alveolar nerve. The aim of this study is to evaluate the clinical importance of the retromolar foramen in dry human mandibles. The study was conducted in 30 dried mandibles from the Department of Anatomy at Sree Balaji Dental College & Hospital, Chennai. In each mandible, the area behind the last molar tooth was carefully inspected for the presence of retromolar foramen. The parameters like retromolar foramen side, distance between retromolar foramen and posterior third molar, distance between anterior border of ramus and retromolar foramen and the distance between retromolar foramen and lingula of the mandibular foramen were analysed and measured with a digital calliper to the nearest millimetres. Retromolar foramen was found in 6 of 30 mandibles of which 3 on the right side and 1 on left side and 2 bilaterally. The distance between posterior third molar to the retromolar foramen was found to be an average of 8.23mm on the right side and 7.86mm on the left side. Distance between anterior border of ramus to retromolar foramen was found to be an average of 5.68mm on the right side and 5.77 on the left side. The average distance measurements between the retromolar foramen and the lingula was 15.18 mm on the right side and 15.11 mm on the left side. Care should be taken not to damage the neurovascular bundle passing through the retromolar foramen during routine anaesthetic, surgical and implantation procedures of the mandible

It accounts more in developing countries. Materials and methods: All the data of the patients were noted in a pre-structured case proforma after taking informed consent. Study population was divided into 50 cases and 50 controls. Results: In IUGR lower segment caesarean section (LSCS) was observed in 64 % and normal vaginal delivery was 36 %. In IUGR neonate’s distribution was 42% males and 58% females. In IUGR, NICU admissions were 40%, 10% stillbirth and 50% were normal without any morbidities. Conclusion: The observation in our study reveals that in female neonates the incidence is more than males. The outcome of IUGR is adverse with a greater number of NICU admissions and stillbirth.

With current Doppler research of the fetal important circulation, inclusive of intracardiac flows and the ductus venosus, higher timing of shipping to decrease morbidity can be possible. Serial ultrasound measurements can offer an inexpensive estimate of fetal gestational age and weight primarily based totally on person and composite fetal biometric measurements. Materials and methods: This study consists of pregnant women who are attending OP /IP in department of OBG, SVS medical college, Mehabubnagar, Telanagana. All the retrospective USG quantitative data was noted in case proforma. Sample size was 100 in our study and was divided into cases and controls. Results: In 2nd trimester FGR parameters like FL (30.32), BPD (41.74), AC (136.34), HC (185.36) , GA (20.22) and EFW (310.04) were less when compared to normal fetus. I...

The placental disease is a cardinal factor among FGR underlying processes. The examination of the placenta in utero as well as postpartum, gives valuable information about the state of the fetal well-being. Material and methods: 50 placental samples from normal pregnancy and 50 FGR placental samples were taken after taking informed consent form. Placenta was washed thoroughly under tap water and observed for any macroscopic pathology. Results: Total no. of villi and volume of intervillous space was 76.57 % and 12.56% in FGR. Dense collagen fibers within villous stroma and around the fetal blood capillaries, significance increase in the mean number of syncytial knots & mean number of collagen fibers was observed in FGR group, when compared with normal group. Conclusion: More number of syncytial knots, dense collagen fibres within villous stroma and are...
