Let’s start from this premise, focusing on the educational aims of Macerata University, which constantly dialogues with a local community in slow and progressive renewal. This paper investigates the possibilities of spreading knowledge and academic skills pedagogically oriented, in the heart of the social and urban fabric, investing in future generations of Human and Social Sciences students – particularly male students – as “new protagonists of care”. Starting from AlmaLaurea data on the employability of graduates in Pedagogical Sciences, compared with Istat data on the demographic characteristics of Macerata municipal area, the authors outline a possible profile of future educators and pedagogists, who have the task to serve a heterogeneous and multi-ethnic community which needs social and educational policies as inclusive as possible. The authors also focus on the need for a strong training investment – as well as a heuristic reinterpretation – on the role of men in caregiving, to strengthen the presence of an alternative educational model. On the one hand, far from the patriarchal authority and, on the other, able to embody skills and professionalism inspired by a vision of educational, care and accompaniment roles, no longer declined exclusively on women.

These weeks are cultural events of invaluable heuristic workmanship and specialist education, targeted both at the world of academia and research, but also at the department’s best students, in order to continuously and progressively reinforce the community of the budding and established scholars. After all, this is in keeping with the finest tradition, particularly during the initial period, of European universities: the forebears of all those that subsequently be established around the world. The first were founded almost 900 years ago and immediately afterwards, from Bologna to Oxford, etc., in the thirteenth and fourteenth centuries and onwards from then. At the time, the elected rector was the most deserving and accredited student. The secondary title of this Week of Excellence, which we are repeating implicitly for this issue, as evidenced by the contributions featured here, was “Networks for Innovation and Inclusion.” “Network” or “networks,” within which research cannot fail to be nourished in a reticular fashion, feeding its context, its dimension, and its vectors. This is particularly true of scientific research, both pure and applied. With two perspectives or trajectories, as mentioned above, which are always present in the DNA of the department in question, upstream of the faculties and scientific structures that preceded it prior to Italian Law no. 240/2010: namely, innovation and inclusion.

All of us paid a very high price, in economic, social and relationship terms. Many people paid with their life. In the educational field, “distance educational ties” and remote teaching have attempted to reduce the demage of social distancing on students, from nursery to secondary school. During the lockdown, teachers and pupils were affected by the lack and the inadequasy of the means, tools and materials available. Teachers have often been accused of demanding too much from scholars. Families, on the other side, faced a housing, emotional and relational proximity they were not accustomed to. This contribution aims to overcome mutual accusations and highlight the importance of new forms of partnership between school and families. Only the collaboration between social agents allows to overcome isolation and individualism and to facilitate a community ab...

Therefore, it is urgent to educate to choose and educate to the choice, so that young people can emancipate themselves from possible conditionings. To this end, the Montessori method represents a privileged way: child is free to choose his own activity and learns "to do by himself" soon; the teacher prepares the environment and the materials that allow the student to satisfy the educational needs of each period of inner development. Then, Montessori gives importance to adolescence because it is during this period that grows the social man. Consequently, it is important to reform the secondary school in order to acquire the autonomy that each student will apply to the subsequent school grades and to all areas of life

The portrait of a community with a low birth rate emerges as an unequivocal sign of a personal and social crisis. But still in young people survives and persists a hidden desire for family which is a yearning for planning as an ontological category of human beings. Therefore, the hope and commitment at the same time are the definition of adult education pathways, focused on parenting, birth and care education.

The question of the absence of work makes the Italian case unique and exemplary: young people are precarious, inadequately paid. Unemployment, the late age to the first job and atypical contracts impoverish young people of the potential wealth they could carry around: innovation, change, planning, growth and future; all that exclude them from the country's decision-making processes. Thus, housing autonomy and economic independence are postponed, hence the transition to adulthood. Deprived of the fixed points that guided previous generations, today's young people do not recognize themselves into any ideology, do not feel represented by any political force. An investigation carried out close to the elections of March 4, 2018 confirmed what has been exposed so far and noted that the conse...

The reasons seem to include the ethical-moral disorientation and the value void characterizing youth nowadays. Young individuals need certainties, rules and limits allowing them to orientate and regulate themselves in an increasingly fast world, with frontiers that are no longer insuperable. The adults have abdicated from their educational responsibilities, in favor of an elusive friend figure (i.e., the parent-friend, the teacher-friend) that has nothing to do with the healthy and physiological asymmetry allowing the child/adolescent to differentiate him/herself from the adult in order to grow up. Deviance, therefore, defined as having a harmful, offensive and abusive c...

Once again, school and family are the primary and fundamental agencies dedicated to educate young people to an open, critical and elastic mindset and to an inspired and oriented modus operandi aimed to responsible behaviours in co-responsibility with other social actors. Particularly in the family context, the conscious and responsible recovery of the exemplary and educational firmness of adults is essential for an action carried out with intentionality and planning. These aspects should characterize all the educators in any reference context. In the scholastic one, starting from the first attempt...

The difficulties increase in the cases of transnational families, or those whose members live in different national contexts. Today, the Mediterranean area, particularly Italy, mainly welcomes migrant women, who work in the tertiary sector of personal services and feed the global care chain. The separation and the subsequent reunion between transnational mothers and children is painful and difficult. The Author therefore proposes several hypothesis of support for distance parenthood, in order to better live the migratory project.
