to describe the results of face and content validation of the questionnaire entitled Quality Impr... more to describe the results of face and content validation of the questionnaire entitled Quality Improvement Implementation Survey, and of two complementary scales as part of the adaptation process to the Brazilian language and culture. included the following stages: (1) translation and synthesis of translations; (2) consideration by the expert committee; (3) back translation; (4) evaluation of verbal understanding by the target population. the questionnaire was translated into Portuguese and its final version included 90 items. In the pre-test, the target population evaluated all items as easy to understand, with the global average of 4.58 (maximum value = 5). the questionnaire is currently translated into Portuguese and adapted to the Brazilian context. The adapted version maintained the semantic, idiomatic, conceptual and cultural equivalence, according to the assessment of the expert committee and the information provided by the target population, which confirmed the face and content validity.

O estudo objetivou avaliar a qualidade dos cuidados de enfermagem em um hospital público de um mu... more O estudo objetivou avaliar a qualidade dos cuidados de enfermagem em um hospital público de um município do interior do Estado de São Paulo a partir de indicadores de estrutura, processo e resultados, por meio da observação direta de pacientes e da análise de prontuários utilizando-se um instrumento de registro de busca ativa. Foram realizadas 720 observações e utilizada a estatística descritiva para verificar o percentual de adequação dos cuidados observados em relação ao padrão de qualidade proposto para os indicadores. Dos 12 indicadores avaliados, dois apresentaram-se dentro do índice de conformidade ideal: "pacientes com infusão venosa sem lesões cutâneas pós-infiltrativas, associadas à punção venosa para infusão de soro e/ou medicações/dia" e "pacientes com sonda nasoenteral recebendo dieta com cabeceira elevada a 30º". An effective way of assessing the performance of nursing services and their management is through... more An effective way of assessing the performance of nursing services and their management is through the use of indicators that show its evolution over time, allowing comparison with internal and external benchmarks. This study aimed at highlighting and examining through an integrated review, indicators that evaluate the quality of nursing care in hospital settings. For data collection, the following database was used: MEDLINE, LILACS, CINAHL, COCHRANE and BDENF. The sample of this study consisted of 15 articles published between 1998 and 2009. After analyzing the articles included in the review, the results of the studies were classified according to the triad proposed by Donabedian: Indicators of processes, structure and results. The articles which have been examined have a wide range of indicators which can support nurses in assessing the quality of nursing care in hospitals. ABSTRACT Objective: To identify indicators adopted by nursing services in teaching hospitals. Met... more ABSTRACT Objective: To identify indicators adopted by nursing services in teaching hospitals. Methods: A cross-sectional, quantitative, non-experimental and descriptive study was conducted in 11 teaching hospitals in the state of São Paulo, Brazil. Data were collected using a questionnaire given to those responsible for the nursing services. The data were analyzed using the Epi Info software, version 3.5.2. The study was approved by a research ethics committee, protocol no. 1279/2011. Results: 90% of the hospitals adopted indicators and disclosed and discussed the results with the nursing staff. The most commonly adopted indicators were: incidence of falls, pressure ulcers, unplanned extubation, phlebitis and the occurrence of adverse events. The least adopted were those related to the management of human resources. Of the institutions researched, 45.5% participated in indicator databases. Conclusion: Most services use quality indicators, however, it is necessary to encourage comparison among hospitals and invest in global indicators that indicate final care outcomes.
