The Present study is aimed at studying the personality’s big five factor and emotional intelligen... more The Present study is aimed at studying the personality’s big five factor and emotional intelligence among young adults of nuclear and joint family. Study was administered among 24 young adults, both male and female of age between 20-28 years, out of these, 12 were from nuclear families and 12 were from joint families. For the assessment of personality traits, NEO-FFI-3 developed by McCrae and Costa (1986) was used. And The Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Scale (SSREI: Schutte et al, 1988) was used for assessment of Emotional Intelligence. The data collected was analyzed with the help of various statistical techniques like t-test and correlation using SPSS. The results indicated that there is no significant difference in mean scores of personality and emotional intelligence of young adults belonging to nuclear families and joint families. And Emotional Intelligence is found to be positively correlated with Extraversion, and Openness dimensions of personality and no correlation was found in emotional intelligence with Neuroticism, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness dimensions of personality.

The purpose of this research study is to understand the inter-relation of happiness, meaning in l... more The purpose of this research study is to understand the inter-relation of happiness, meaning in life and perceived social support in the transgender community of India. The study was divided into two phases; in phase I an online survey was conducted in which respondents were individuals belonging to the transgender community. The online survey included a measure of happiness, meaning in life and perceived social support. This survey was open to all residing in India. Phase II involved an in depth interview of a small sample of ten individuals belonging to the transgender community, residing locally within Vadodara district. MAJOR FINDINGS; 1. Experiences of happiness is found to be positively correlated with meaning in life. 2. Experiences of happiness is found to be positively correlated with perceived social support. 3. Individuals belonging to the transgender community attach a lot of importance to support and acceptance of family. 4. Individuals of the transgender community varied in their reactions to interact with the interviewers, with some openly discussing their feelings and venting out their emotions relating to recent life events, while others being reluctant to open up and refusing to share much.

The aim of the study is to assess the symptomatology of PTSD and severity of depression among wid... more The aim of the study is to assess the symptomatology of PTSD and severity of depression among widowed women. 40 widowed women have been taken as sample for this study through random selection method. Symptoms of PTSD was measured using PCL-5 by National Center for PTSD, USA and for assessing the severity of depression, The Beck Depression Inventort-1A (BDI-1A) by Aaron T, Beck was used. Aim of the study was to know the levels of PTSD and Depression among the participants, in order to achieve this, percentage was used to show levels of variables. And the second phase of this study was to examine the association between variables i,e between the (PTSD and Depression). For this purpose, Pearson correlation was carried out. The findings of the first phase showed 100% of PTSD indicating that all the widowed women participated in this study have PTSD symptoms and also all the participants are found to have severe depression. And the study findings of the second phase showed that, among the widows, the symptoms of PTSD and symptoms of Depression were found to be positively correlated with a weak strength of association. (r = .25, p=.123)Widows who have more symptoms of PTSD also have high symptoms of Depression. The correlation is not statistically significant which shows there is no enough evidence to suggest the correlation observed exist.
