Under the concept of "Industry 4.0", production processes will be pushed to be increasingly inter... more Under the concept of "Industry 4.0", production processes will be pushed to be increasingly interconnected, information based on a real time basis and, necessarily, much more efficient. In this context, capacity optimization goes beyond the traditional aim of capacity maximization, contributing also for organization's profitability and value. Indeed, lean management and continuous improvement approaches suggest capacity optimization instead of maximization. The study of capacity optimization and costing models is an important research topic that deserves contributions from both the practical and theoretical perspectives. This paper presents and discusses a mathematical model for capacity management based on different costing models (ABC and TDABC). A generic model has been developed and it was used to analyze idle capacity and to design strategies towards the maximization of organization's value. The trade-off capacity maximization vs operational efficiency is highlighted and it is shown that capacity optimization might hide operational inefficiency.

For this, the decisions that are made during the engineering changes of a product need to be assertive, taking into account factors of risk and concurrent engineering. The present work aimed to develop a new method to support the decision-taking process among multiple alternatives based on the evaluation of risk factors in the context of an engineering change. For this development, the Design Science Research was used as a methodological framework. The demonstration and evaluation steps were performed in the engineering environment of an automotive partner company. O atual cenario do mercado nacional e internacional e marcado por uma concorrencia cada vez mais ... more O atual cenario do mercado nacional e internacional e marcado por uma concorrencia cada vez mais acirrada e para assegurar a sobrevivencia das organizacoes, exige que as empresas desenvolvedoras de novos produtos nao possam pecar em questoes de custo, qualidade e tempo durante um projeto. Para isso, as decisoes que sao tomadas durante as alteracoes de engenharia de um produto precisam ser assertivas, levando em consideracao fatores de risco e engenharia simultânea. O presente trabalho teve por objetivo desenvolver um novo metodo para apoiar o processo de tomada de decisao dentre multiplas alternativas a partir da avaliacao de fatores de risco no contexto de uma mudanca de engenharia. Para esse desenvolvimento, foi utilizado como framework metodologico o Design Science Research. As etapas de demonstracao e avaliacao do DSR foram realizadas no ambiente de engenharia de uma empresa parceira do ramo automotivo. O presente trabalho tem como tema o desenvolvimento e aplicacao de um sistema supervisorio para a... more O presente trabalho tem como tema o desenvolvimento e aplicacao de um sistema supervisorio para aquisicao de dados em um reator de nitretacao por plasma pertencente a UTFPR. O sistema desenvolvido tem o objetivo de aperfeicoar o modo como as variaveis de processo sao registradas durante um ciclo de tratamento. Um controlador logico programavel S7-200 da Siemens foi utilizado para realizar o controle e interface entre a planta fisica do reator e o sistema supervisorio Elipse SCADA. O sistema permite a manipulacao de ate 3 variaveis de vazao e a aquisicao de dados de pressao, temperatura, tensao de pico e corrente de pico. Esses dados sao mostrados em tempo real na tela de um computador e registrados em arquivos de historico em formato de tabela que podem ser consultados apos a realizacao do ensaio. Os testes realizados no laboratorio com esse sistema instalado validaram a eficacia do mesmo mostrando a capacidade de controle, aquisicao e registro dos sinais das variaveis de processo.

The present work has as a theme, the development and application of a supervisory system for data... more The present work has as a theme, the development and application of a supervisory system for data acquisition on a nitriding plasm reactor which belongs to UTFPR. The developed system aims to optimize the form of registration of process variables during a treatment cycle. A S7-200 Siemens PLC was used to control and interface between the reactor and Elipse SCADA supervisory system. The system can manipulate up to 3 flow variables and data acquisition of pressure, temperature, voltage and current. All these data can be visualized in real-time on the computer screen and recorded in historical files in table format that can be consulted after the essay. The laboratory tests made with this system validated its efficacy demonstrating the capacity of control, data acquisition and the signals records of the process variables.

There are several risks inherent to the design phase of product development that need to be manag... more There are several risks inherent to the design phase of product development that need to be managed seeking to reduce or eliminate them. In this context, this study aims to learn the scientific research trend related to the topic to create a knowledge base and find relevant research gaps for the literature. The ProKnow-C methodology was used for the analysis, as well as for the selection of the scientific article portfolio. At the end of the study, a total of 23 relevant scientific articles were obtained in the bibliographic portfolio from which the research challenges and the trends regarding this theme could be highlighted to guide future research.
