Michael addition of ethyl acetoacetate and acetylacetone to heterocyclic aldehydes gave, respecti... more Michael addition of ethyl acetoacetate and acetylacetone to heterocyclic aldehydes gave, respectively, 2,4-bis(ethoxycarbonyl)- and 2,4-diacetyl-3-hetaryl-5-hydroxy-5-methylcyclohexanones as mixture with the corresponding enols. Reaction of the addition products with hydrazines afforded 4,5-trans-2-alkyl-5- ethoxycarbonyl(or acetyl)-4-hetaryl-6-hydroxy-6-methyl-4,5,6,6-tetrahydro-2H-indazoles with high stereoselectivity.
