This sensor is based on zinc wires of different widths deposited on the surface of the ceramic resonator. Numerical studies show that due to the evolution of the corrosion, the progressive degradation of the conductivity of the formed zinc grid (from 6S/μm to 0.015S/μm) cause a progressive frequency shift (230MHz), a degradation of the quality factor (from Q0 = 50 to Q0 < 5) and a decreased level of the coefficient transmission of the TE101 mode of the resonator (from -8dB to <-35dB). Experimental measurements of this sensor in a corrosive environment show a gradual shift of the resonance frequency of the TE101 mode, a decreased level of S21 transmission coefficient and a degradation of the unloaded quality factor.

This technique allows the accurate characterization of the dimensional and electrical characteristics of the cavity and the electromagnetic properties of a dielectric material, simultaneously in one temperature cycle. To do this, the couple TE011+TE013 is used to characterize the sample and the couple TE012+TE014 is used to characterize the cavity conductivity and dimensions. Measurements of conductivity and dimensions using the couple TE012+TE014 for a loaded cavity at ambient temperature and during a thermal cycle show an agreement with the values obtained using the couple TE011+TE013 for an unloaded cavity at ambient temperature and during a thermal cycle. The characterization of an Alumina sample during a thermal cycle performed using the new technique and the traditional one shows a good agreement for the permittivities and t...

Apart from ratio, product and regression estimators, exponential estimators are widely considered by survey statisticians. Motivated from the idea of exponential type estimators, in this article, we propose some new estimators utilizing known median of the study variable with mean of auxiliary variable. Theoretical properties of the suggested estimators are studied up to first order of approximation. In addition, an empirical and simulation study the comparison of median based proposed class of estimators with sample mean, ratio and linear regression estimators are discussed. The results expose that the proposed estimators are more efficient than the existing estimators.

This controversy and diverse and often strongly held opinions can make decision making processes around ECT more complex. This consumer-led project explored the experiences of individuals who had received ECT in terms of the information they received, their experience of ECT and suggestions for ways that decision making processes and experiences of ECT can be improved. Interviews were conducted by consumer researchers who had also received ECT and transcripts were analysed using constant comparative techniques. Seventeen individuals participated. Four overarching categories were identified from participant interviews: Information matters; Preparation and decisions before ECT; Experience of ECT; and Suggestions for improvement. Most participants suggested that more information was required and that this information should be made available more regularly to support decision making. Additional s...

This approach combines the vectorfitting (VF) algorithm, which is a powerful iterative method for estimating the poles and residues of a MIMO system, associated with the inverse Laplace transform in order to implement passive RF models in a time domain system simulation environment. For our application, the Scilab/Scicos tool is chosen since it allows the resolution of implicit equations, therefore, the implementation of bilateral behavioral models. The impulse responses Sij(t) are then evaluated form previous poles/residues identification process in order to compute the implicit relationship between I and V at each port of the block. This method has been validated in the case of simple circuit (load) and extended to the case of complex MIMO sub-systems such as a full power combiner of a power amplifier (PA). As a result, the envelope transient (TE) S-parameters evaluation of ...

Dams have the most important role in utilizing water resources. They were constructed long year before gaining present information about hydrology and hydro mechanics. Throughout the history of the world, dams have been used successfully in collecting, storing and managing water needed to sustain civilization. Dams have a great deal of positive and negative effects on the environment. Their benefits like controlling stream regime, consequently preventing floods, obtaining domestic and irrigation water from stored water and generating energy from hydro power. While dam provide significant benefit to our society, their impact on the surrounding includes resettlement and relocation, socioeconomic impact, environmental concerns, sedimentation issue, safety aspects etc. In addition to their very important social and environmental benefits, it is important to minimize the negative effects of the dam on the environment regarding s...

This work is based on vector fitting (VF) approach which is a robust method for MIMO system identification in the frequency domain. This paper addresses firstly the problem of convergence using envelope transient (ET) on complex circuits, i.e. power amplifiers (PAs), where linear sub-circuits are widely described through S-parameters matrices derived from ElectroMagnetic (EM) simulations. An alternative way leads to combine VF method with an RLC synthesis process at the circuit level. This approach is validated on a simple circuit case and generalized to MIMO systems. Second application is the behavioral modeling of MIMO blocks at system level in a high-level spice-like system simulation tool which allows “Control Flow” simulations. The proposed approach combines on one hand the VF method with and impulse responses evaluation on the other hand. In consequence, bilateral behavioral m...

The assessment of the suitability of existing plants is based on recommendations set forth by the WHO and some American water Authorities. The included bacteriological data in the study are plate count, total coliform bacteria and fecal coliform bacteria of the raw water supplies from eight existing intakes for a period of 29 months starting from January, 1992 and ending in June, 1994 were used in the analysis. It is found that the bacteriological quality of the raw water supplies of all eight intakes needed special treatment throughout or part of the year.

Based on examples taken from around the world, this article outlines both the conceptual justification and the empirical evidence behind the viability of the green industry concept. In addition, concrete recommendations are put forward which are seen as enabling the realization of a green industry.
