The object of this research is 14 Islamic commercial banks in Indonesia. The sampling technique was purposive sampling, so 108 units of analysis were obtained. The data was analyzed by panel data regression analysis in the form of a fixed effect model (FEM). This study aims to explain the impact of the board diversity attributes (education levels, educational backgrounds and the interactions between these two attributes of diversity) on profitability. Design/methodology/approach-The research sample is 37 fully flagged IBs from five Southeast Asian countries, covering nine years (2010-2019). Data were analyzed using the two-step system generalized moment (2SYS-GMM) method. Findings-We found that the cognitive conflict between the board of directors (BOD) and the Shariah Supervisory Board (SSB), which has heterogeneity in its education level and educational background, positively affects profitability. These results reinforce the resources dependence theory (RDT) approach that having boards with heterogeneous characteristics is beneficial for IB. Practical implications-The findings of this study would offer useful information for Islamic banking authorities to revise or formulate rules and guidelines and make a greater effort to implement corporate governance (CG) reform measures by determining educational level and background as a requirement to become a member of a BOD or an SSB. Originality/value-This paper contributes in three ways: (1) we use the "deep-level" diversity attributes of the BOD and the SSB, (2) it focuses on cognitive conflict in boards by presenting the expertise diversity of the BOD and SSB and (3) we interact with the level of education to evaluate the effect of a cognitive conflict.

This study was conducted to explain behavior intention to use EZPS using a technology acceptance model approach. We used 80 muzakki who are EZPS users, and the data were analyzed using SEM-PLS. We identified that Perceived Usefulness (PU) and Perceived Ease of Use (PEU) have a very significant effect on behavior intention to use EZPS. The implication of this research is that AZI, which develops EZPS, should pay attention to the convenience and usability of EZPS by paying attention to the features, services, and clarity of procedures in using EZPS.

The aim of this study is to empirically prove the effect of gender diversity on the board (BOD and SSB) on financial soundness. We use unbalanced panel data on 38 Islamic banks in 5 countries in Southeast Asia with an observation period of 2010-2019. Using Random-effects GLS regression, we found that BOD and SSB gender diversity did not affect financial soundness. However, we found that women in SSB members strengthened the positive effect of BOD gender diversity on financial soundness. The corporate governance structure of Islamic banks, BOD and SSB are jointly involved in making bank business decisions. SSB as a multi-layer governance and completes the duties of BOD as supervisor and advisor in bank operations. The presence of women as SSB members strengthens the relationship between BOD gender diversity and financial soundness. Our results are robust after performing the 2SLS test to address the possible endogeneity problem.

The participants were 427 students in public universities in Indonesia. To demonstrate the success of this e-learning, we developed a more comprehensive e-learning evaluation model that considers the system's characteristics, students, and instructors. The results show that higher student performance is associated with higher student satisfaction. However, the increase in performance is not due to the use of e-learning. Social and cultural factors influence the use of e-learning. Culture and social environment influence students' use of e-learning. The instructor's ability to implement e-learning has been shown to influence student satisfaction. The difference in the implementation of e-learning compared to classroom learning requires different teaching methods that affect student performance. In addition, e-learning is used in all courses during the COVID-19 pandemic.
