During high adversity and incredibly challenging times, leaders must develop and nurture resilience in the organizations. Resilience may be the attribute that is most needed today by Lebanese leaders since they ought to be more responsive and more attuned to the unprecedented difficult conditions in the country. Based on the Duchek (2020) model of organizational resilience, and the crisis management approach, this qualitative research study focuses on gaining insight and understanding about the managers/owners’ perceptions of events and circumstances affecting their industry, and how they have adjusted to the challenges raised simultaneously by the worst economic crisis in the country and by the spread of Covid-19 around the world. Les technologies de l'information et de la communication ont bouleversé le travail au sein des ba... more Les technologies de l'information et de la communication ont bouleversé le travail au sein des banques et ont suscité de profonds changements structurels. Les banques, à travers le monde, se trouvent confrontées à des défis multiples en vue d'adopter et d'intégrer les innovations technologiques et les pratiques de l'e-banking dans leur travail quotidien. Cet article vise à examiner les enjeux liés à l'adoption des canaux électroniques de distribution par les banques commerciales au Liban, ainsi que les facteurs qui les poussent à s'engager sur cette voie. En se référant à une approche qualitative, des entretiens semi-directifs ont été effectués avec des responsables travaillant dans 6 banques commerciales. L'étude qualitative nous a permis de vérifier la pertinence de certains facteurs et variables, issus de la littérature sur l'adoption des technologies de l'information et des recherches antérieures, dans le contexte libanais. En outre, nos résultats ont mis le point sur les problèmes organisationnels et réglementaires rencontrés par les banques libanaises lors de l'intégration des services bancaires électroniques. Ils ont confirmé la complexité des changements à conduire et des défis à relever pour ce secteur qui se trouve en plein processus de développement technologique. Purpose In light of the emphasis on “inclusion” in the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the ... more Purpose In light of the emphasis on “inclusion” in the sustainable development goals (SDGs), the notion of social inclusion encompasses the goal of granting opportunities for disabled people, integrate them and make them participate in the new environment. Referring to the capability theory, the purpose of this study is to examine the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in the social inclusion of disabled young people in Lebanon. Design/methodology/approach This paper uses a qualitative approach based on a series of focused semi-structured interviews with 11 participants occupying key positions in aid associations for disabled people. Findings The findings suggest that smart technologies can enhance social inclusion through three key factors: the nature of impairment and other personal characteristics of disabled people, the resources available to them and the environmental aspects provided by government policies and society’s cultural practices. The managerial thought is evolving and developing to adapt itself with new challenges both cultural and technological to meet different needs of the company. Today, the leader is characterized by his capacity to be in interaction with his environment to serve it better. Through a qualitative study and based on seven interviews conducted with superior person in charge of the Lebanese Public Sector, this article searches to analyze how the role of the leaders of public sector evolves in view of technological transformations resulting from the adoption and the diffusion of information and communication technologies (ICT) in their institutions. To face these new technological challenges, the person in charge of the public sector must exceed his role of a traditional manager to the role of a transformational leader. Hence the necessity of an adaptation, and a mutation in the organizational structure to give an intermediary role to the computer scientists specialist of data and information in the public institutions.
Reposant sur une integration des differentes theories de l’implication au travail et des theories... more Reposant sur une integration des differentes theories de l’implication au travail et des theories sur la motivation dans les services publics, notre recherche analyse les sources d’implication des gestionnaires publics au travail. A la suite d’une etude qualitative basee sur des entretiens semi-directifs realises avec 53 gestionnaires publics Libanais, les resultats montrent que l’implication des gestionnaires publics libanais repose principalement sur l’articulation deux elements : Les valeurs culturelles des Libanais liees au travail. Les facteurs lies a la motivation dans les services publics. Toutefois, d’autres facteurs, comme les interventions politiques et communautaires dans l’administration, la mauvaise politique de gestion des ressources humaines, et les pratiques de favoritisme interviennent pour limiter l’implication des gestionnaires publics au travail.
Referring to the model developed by Rogers [8] on the diffusion of innovations and that of Venkat... more Referring to the model developed by Rogers [8] on the diffusion of innovations and that of Venkatesh and Morris [9], this article aims to explore and identify the role of the socio-demographic factors in the adoption of e-banking by the clientele of a big commercial bank operating in Lebanon. The analysis and processing of data emanating from the bank through the SPSS software allow us to draw representative profiles of customers based on their socio-demographic criteria. The obtained results are consistent with previous researches and confirmed the impact of age, income, educational level and profession on the adoption of e-banking by the Lebanese consumer. These results provide an in-depth understanding of the role of socio-demographic characteristics in the use of electronic distribution channels and help Lebanese banking institutions better establish strategies for promoting online banking services in the future.

Consequently, the country now urgently needs more than ever committed public managers, more involved and more effective in their work responsibilities to enhance public sector performance and reduce the consequences of the crisis. Little research has been done on the role of leadership in promoting organizational commitment in the public sector in Lebanon. Thus, referring to the leadership full range theory, this study aims to investigate the association between leadership styles and organizational commitment with the mediating role of Leader-member exchange (LMX). It further aims to examine the relationships between gender, leadership style, LMX and organizational commitment in the Lebanese public context. Data were collected via an online survey on a sample composed of 132 middle managers working in six public administrations in Lebanon. Linear and multiple regression analyses were carried out to test the direct and indirect effect of leadership styles on organizational commitment. The results indicated that both two styles of Bass are positively correlated with organizational commitment. The results also revealed a significant relationship between public servant gender and the quality of his relationship with the leader. Moreover, results showed that LMX doesn't mediate the relationship between transformational leadership and organizational commitment, although it partially mediates the relationship between transactional leadership and organizational commitment. This study contributes to understanding of the mechanisms of developing organizational commitment through leadership styles. It also has implications for public service recruitment and training policies.

Referring to Rogers’ models (Diffusion of innovations. The Free Press, A Division of Macmillan Publishing Co., Inc., New York, 1983 [16]; Diffusion of innovations. New York Free Press, 1995 [17]), we studied the effects of this adoption on transactions costs and we presented the key role played by information and communications technology (ICT) in organizations, especially at the cost level. Using a qualitative approach, our study reveals the complexity of this concept, particularly regarding the integration strategies of the latest technological innovations within the banking sector, which appear to be essential for the development and the continuity of the sector at the national and regional levels

In a constantly changing environment, that is more and more demanding in terms of innovation and performance, the concept of leadership is of particular importance, as it is one of the few tools available to public managers.Based on the transformational leadership theory, the aim of this study is to explore how transformational leadership characteristics influence organizational change within the public sector in Lebanon. To serve this purpose, a qualitative approach is adopted based on a series of semi-focused interviews conducted with ten public managers running 10 public administrations.
