J Biol Chem 281: 3473–3483, 2006). To determine the impact of apo A-IV on microsomal triglyceride transfer protein (MTTP), IPEC-1 cell lines containing a tetracycline-regulatable expression system were used to overexpress native swine apo A-IV and “piglike” human apo A-IV, a mutant human apo A-IV with deletion of the EQQQ-rich COOH-terminus, previously shown to upregulate basolateral triglyceride (TG) secretion 5-fold and 25-fold, respectively. Cells were incubated 24 h with and without doxycycline and oleic acid (OA, 0.8 mM). Overexpression of the native swine apo A-IV and piglike human apo A-IV increased MTTP lipid transfer activity by 39.7% ( P = 0.006) and 53.6% ( P = 0.0001),...

In this paper, we develop an accurate and efficient Haar wavelet scheme for solving well-known one-dimensional reaction-diffusion equation. The power of this manageable method is confirmed. An attempt is made to combine the advantages of the ADM and Haar wavelets. The obtained numerical results have been validated against a closed form analytical solution as well as ADM results. Good agreement with the exact solution has been observed. Moreover the use of Haar wavelets is found to be accurate, simple, fast, flexible, convenient, small computation costs and computationally attractive.

The same d-exponent of 0.8 is found to be satisfactory for these four atoms and the hydrogen ...

Using a framework of strategic management, the process of absorbing entrepreneurship has been traced and efforts have been made to quantify the intensity of entrepreneurism by administering an instrument of six point rating scale to 210 executives. The study has brought out that the process of absorbing entrepreneurship through certain initiatives has been useful to this corporation in managing change successfully. The intensity of entrepreneurism is between moderate to high which can be further strengthened by concentrating more on assessing external opportunities and creating a climate of taking benefits from these opportunities by applying creativity. The paper also outlines the areas for future research in organisational entrepreneurism.

The patients were divided into two groups. The first group (n = 28) had advanced atrioventricular block, while the second group (n = 54) were without atrioventricular block. The patients with advanced block had lower left ventricular (49 +/- 12% vs. 55 +/- 14%, P less than 0.05) and right ventricular ejection fraction (26 +/- 10% vs. 43 +/- 11%, P less than 0.001) than those with normal atrioventricular conduction. The atrioventricular block disappeared spontaneously in all of them. The hospital mortality of the patients with advanced block and those without advanced block was 10.7 and 5.5%, respectively (P = NS). Pre-discharge 24-hour Holter monitoring done in all survivors revealed isolated ventricular ectopics (Lown grade I, II, III) in 44% of patients who had had advanced block and 43.1% of patients without advanced block (P = NS). Complex ventricular ectopics (Lown grade IVa, IVb), however, were recorded in significantly more patients with advanced block as compared to patients without advanced block (36 vs. 7.8%, P less than 0.01). Most patients with complex ventricular ectopics in both groups had impaired left or right ventricular function.(ABSTRACT TRUNCATED AT 250 WORDS)
