Research paper thumbnail of The Emergence of Quad and Its Implications for China: Analyzing the Politics of Balance of Power in the Indo-Pacific Region

In 2007 Australia, India, Japan, and the United States initiated QUAD, a multilateral initiative based on shared security interests and mutual geopolitical concerns. Even though the QUAD initiative had limited scope for bilateral and multilateral cooperation , the recent meetings between Australia, Japan, India, and the US created security and strategic concerns for China. China considered this initiative a threat and declared its intention to establish an Asian NATO to protect its economic and strategic interests. However, India-Australia-Japan has claimed QUAD as an economic and democratic initiative to create a free, transparent, and interconnected Indo-Pacific region. However, India can use this collaboration to balance the power politics in the Indo-Pacific region against China's domination. The multilateral cooperation on strategic and military lines will boost India's position in the Indo-Pacific region. This paper's main objective is to analyze the politics of balance of power between India and China in the Indo-Pacific region with QUAD's help and its implication for China.

There is a significant increase in the conductivity of the compounds by the introduction of polar groups to the anthraquinone molecule. There exists a correspondence between the thermal activation energy of the darkconductivity (AED) and the energy of the first excited singlet state (1E). The search for a correlation between the thermal activation energy of the darkconductivity and the energy of the triplet state (3E) was unsuccessful.

The conductivity of the AQ derivatives, generally speaking, are not as good as those of the charge transfer kind. The darkcurrent in the case of AQderivatives ranges from 10 14 10-12 for 9,10-AQ to 10-1~-8 for 1,4,5,8-tetraamino AQ. The AQs are n-type semiconductors with electrons being the majority charge carriers. In the present article, we describe the charge carrier generation and transport processes in three di-substituted AQ derivatives whose spectral properties have been well studied. The magnetic field effect has been observed for the first time in these compounds.

Journal of Materials Science, 1991

Results of our experiments on the dark and photoconduction studies in two p-dimethylamino styryl ... more Results of our experiments on the dark and photoconduction studies in two p-dimethylamino styryl dyes derived from pyridine-2 (PDMS-P2) and pyridine-4 (PDMS-P4) in their pure form without any dopant or additive are reported. Measurements on surface-type (raster pattern) cells show that the dark and photocurrents are dependent on the applied potential, temperature, and the photocurrent on the intensity of the incident radiation and the wavelength. Action spectra of the samples could not be recorded as the intensity of the monochromatic radiation from the monochromator reaching the sample was too low to induce any noticeable photocurrent. The compounds show a low dark conductivity. The dark and photocurrents show a perfect ohmic behaviour in the temperature range studied (288-328 K). Since photoconduction could only be observed in a vacuum, this clearly indicates that the compounds are n-type semiconductors. The observed rise and decay kinetics of the I~hotocurrents indicate the presence of traps in the forbidden zone. The dyes show an enhanced photoconduction on illumination with visible radiation only. The marked open circuit voltage and the short-circuit current observed in these compounds indicate a possible application in solar photovoltaics.

The results suggest that the sample behaved like a normal dielectric ceramic between room temperature and 211 K. Below 211 K, its behaviour has been interpreted as that of a relaxor ferroelectric.
