Chitosan and gelatin have excellent properties in biocompatibility, biodegradability, non-toxicity and water absorption capacity. The objective of this review was to analyze the characteristics of chitosan-gelatin (CG) composite-based biomaterial and its effectivity as a local hemostatic agent. We used PRISMA guidelines and the PICO framework to compile this review. The findings demonstrated that the CG composite-based biomaterial had excellent physical, chemical, mechanical properties and local hemostatic agent activity by adding other active substances such as oxidized fibers (OF), silica nanoparticles (SiNPs), calcium (Ca) and biphasic calcium phosphate (BCP) or by setting the CG composite proportion ratio.

This research aims to obtain information about characteristic patients with cervical necrotizing fasciitis (CNF). This study is an observational study with a retrospective descriptive approach. Based on medical record data, the research was conducted at Hasan Sadikin General Hospital (RSHS) Bandung from March 2019 – March 2021. The data collected include age, gender, onset, nutritional status, region, clinical diagnosis, microbiology, antibiotic sensitivity resistance, length of stay, and source focal infection. In this study, 23 medical records were obtained. The most frequent characteristics of the subjects were elderly...

The rats then were treated with zoledronic acid till sacrifice at week two, four and eight. The site of tooth extraction on jaws, and the defect on femurs were analysed by histomorphometry and microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) examination. Findings and Conclusion: Micro-CT scanning showed higher bone density in ZA treated femur and jaw bones comparing with that in saline treated group. Necrotic bone was found only in the mandibles in ZA treated group. Vascular casts by micro-CT examination showed that the blood vessels in ZA treated group were denser but less structured than that in control group in jaw bones; however, the difference was not evident in femur site.

According to the World Health Organization in 2017, classification of odontogenic cysts are classified into cysts originating from inflammatory and developmental processes. Most cystic lesions of the oral and maxillofacial cavity are of odontogenic origin and have higher incidence than other body parts. This study to explain about prevalence of odontogenic cyst in RSUP Hasan Sadikin in 2019-2020 .Method: This study was a retrospective study that included 30 patients diagnosed with odontogenic cysts during 2019-2020. The data taken in each patient were age, gender, location of predilection, investigations, diagnosis, management, and recurrence of cases of odontogenic cysts.Result: A total of 15 patients had developmental odontogenic cysts and 15 had inflammatory odontogenic cysts. Most developmental cysts were 12 patients with dentigerous cysts, Odontogenci Keratocyst in 2 patients, and calcifying odonto...

The most effective treatment for this lesion is a surgical excision. Superficial parotidectomy is considered to be gold standard for benign tumours localised in superficial parotid lobe but has higher complication rate. Objective: The objective of this study was to analyse surgical outcome of superficial parotidectomy on the treatment of pleomorphic adenoma. Methods: Clinical records on a 3-year period of 15 patients were analysed for surgical outcome characteristics. Findings: On this review, tumour recurrence was found on one patient (6.67%), four patients (26.67%) with auricular numbness, three patients (20%) with facial nerve palsy, one patient (6.67%) with Frey's syndrome. The surgical complication was higher on the tumours with diameter >4 cm. Conclusion: Superficial parotidectomy is favourable as surgical approach on pleomorphic adenoma localised in superficial parotid lobe in certain condition.

Material and Methods: Samples were divided into two groups, the treatment group (which was given diclofenac sodium gel) and the control group (which was not given diclofenac sodium gel). Initial data collection of facial dimensions and assessment of salivary alpha amylase levels were performed prior to odontectomy. Retrieval of data was carried out at 2 hours, 3 days and 7 days after the procedure of odontectomy under local anesthesia. Result: No difference in swelling after odontectomy of the mandibular third molar after given the application of diclofenac sodium gel based with no given the application of diclofenac sodium gel based on imunoglobulin G levels in the impaction classification class Ia, Ib, Ic, IIa, IIb, IIc, with p value >0.05. Conclusion: there is a difference in swelling in the group given sodium diclofenac gel and not given sodium diclofenac gel based on alpha amylase levels in the classification.

The p53 tumor suppressor gene known as "the guardian of the genome" has a major function in cell cycle control and act as a main defense against cancer, the occurrence of genomic instability causes inactivation and mutation of p53, which related to the progression of cancer cells and poor prognosis for patients. Human telomerase reverse transcriptase (hTERT), a catalytic protein subunit of the complex telomerase enzyme, prevents telomere erosion during DNA replication, thus allowing cells to escape the aging cell step. The relationship between hTERT and malignant transformation is around 90%, the detection of hTERT is associated with malignancy that leads to a worse prognosis which increases immortality or continuous growth in cancer cells. This study was conducted with retrospective cross sectional using immunohistochemical p53 and hTERT sm...

The main factors that contribute to its recurrence rate are presumed to be the thinness of the cyst wall, the high copability of the cyst epithelium to proliferate or multiplicate and the presence of the microcysts in the mother cyst capsule. The treatment of the lesion is still controversial and ranges from enucleation to resection. A relatively new approach to the therapy of keratocysts is to fix, that the cyst in a fixation agent for preventing spillage of vital epithelial cells during surgery.

Changes in the expression function of both E-Cadherin and Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor (VEGF) genes are known to provide an increased chance of invasion, metastasis and tumor growth. Immunohistochemistry immune techniques are known to examine the expression of tumor-linked gene proteins (immunoexpression) with a high degree of cellular accuracy. Method: A total of 30 body tissue subjects were selected from patients of Anatomical Pathology Faculty of Medicine Universitas Padjadjaran-Hospital Dr. Hasan Sadikin Bandung. Subsequently prepared using immunohistochemistry principles to test the correlation of histopathology gradation and immunoexpression of both E-Cadherin and VEGF. This cross sectional study with secondary data was retrospective and then evaluated correlation ofboth immunoexpressions of E-Cadherin and VEGF. Correlation using Correlation Rank Spearm...
