The present study addressed the popular beliefs in the Palestinian society. Popular belief practi... more The present study addressed the popular beliefs in the Palestinian society. Popular belief practices were evaluated using an index of a 39-item scale developed by the researchers, and were administrated to 1,066 Palestinians in the West Bank, Palestine, during 2022. The sample population was selected via the stratified random selection method. Study findings revealed that almost three quarters of the participants (71.6%) experienced a moderate level of popular belief practices in their daily life. The study indicated that gender, educational level, age and the degree of religiosity were significant predictors of popular belief practices. The consequences of the study findings for practice were highlighted.

The purpose of the work was to expand the capabilities of laparoscopic appendectomy in the atypical location of the destructively altered appendix in patients with a high risk of cardiopulmonary pathology, through the use of new surgical techniques. Material and methods. In the clinic of Department of Surgery No. 2, Odessa National Medical University, from 2015 to 2020, there were operated on 57 patients for acute appendicitis with an atypical location of the appendix with the presence of concomitant cardiopulmonary pathology. All patients were divided into 2 groups. The first group consisted of 21 (36.8%) patients with an atypical location of the appendix and a high risk of cardiopulmonary failure, who underwent an open appendectomy. The second group consisted of 36 (63.2%) patients with an atypical location of the appendix and a high risk of cardiopulmonary failure, who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy. The procedure was performed according to two methods: with the imposition of pneumoperitoneum in 24 (42.2%) patients and in 12 (21%) patients with the imposition of laparolifting, due to severe cardiopulmonary pathology. Results. Postoperative complications in group 2 were less than in patients in group 1. Average stay in the hospital of patients of the second group, after laparoscopic appendectomy, was 4.9 ± 2.35 days. In patients of the first group, with open appendectomy-10.6 ± 5.1 days. After minimally invasive interventions, patients were in the hospital on average 5 days less than patients who underwent "open" appendectomy. Conclusions. The use of laparoscopic and video-assisted approaches, in an atypical location of appendicitis, can reduce the incidence of postoperative complications and deaths, which generally improves the results of the treatment.

In this article, the new approach of generalized exp (−ϕ (ξ))expansion method has been successful... more In this article, the new approach of generalized exp (−ϕ (ξ))expansion method has been successfully implemented to seek traveling wave solutions of the Korteweg-de vries equation and the modified Zakharov-Kuznetsov equation. The result reveals that the method together with the new ordinary differential equation is a very influential and effective tool for solving nonlinear partial differential equations in mathematical physics and engineering. The obtained solutions have been articulated by the hyperbolic functions, trigonometric functions and rational functions with arbitrary constants.

The duration of the lesions was more than 1 year, with the oral lesion preceding the skin lesions. Histopathological examination revealed malignant vascular tumour with changes consistent with angiosarcoma. Angiosarcoma is an extremely rare malignant tumour of the oral cavity, and the present case describes oral and skin lesions with a unique clinical behaviour.

In recent years, laparoscopic appendectomy has become one of the “gold standards” of surgery. Of particular interest in this group of patients is a gasless and with small amount of gas laparoscopy, in which the endosurgical space in the abdominal cavity is created with the help of endolifts, in which the abdominal wall is raised mechanically, without creating a pneumoperitoneum. The article analyzes the experience of using endovideosurgical method of treatment of patients with АA with pulmonary pathology, determines the indications for the use of different methods of applying pneumoperitoneum when performing laparoscopic appendectomy (LA). Material and method. The result of treatment of 46 patients with acute appendicitis (АA) and concomitant pulmonary pathology in the last 5 years is given. Group I included 14 patients diagnosed with AA with concomitant pulmonary pathology who underwent open appendectomy, and II — 32 patients with a diagnosis of AA with concomitant pulmonary pathology, who underwent laparoscopic appendectomy with the imposition of pneumoperitoneum and metaphormia. Performed for over a century by a mini-incision in the right iliac fossa, in most cases, the appendectomy could be included in the group of minimally invasive operations. In the last two decades, major changes in the diagnosis and treatment of surgical disorders have also had an impact on the appendix pathology. A first progress was made in the diagnosis of acute appendicitis through the widespread use of imaging, especially ultrasound, which led to a more accurate diagnosis and reduction of unnecessary appendectomies. The second major therapeutic change was performing and spreading laparoscopic appendectomy, with all the well-known advantages of minimally invasive interventions.
