In this novel method the tedious job of deriving the complex coefficients of a polynomial equation and solving it, as in previous methods, is not required. By comparing the simulation results obtained by the proposed method with those obtained by the well known mathematical methods, a good agreement between these results is obtained. The comparison validates the effectiveness of the proposed technique.

The belief in the expected redeemer or the Mahdī is a well-known concept in the history of Islam.... more The belief in the expected redeemer or the Mahdī is a well-known concept in the history of Islam. However, the notion has been opened to several interpretations and misinterpretations from various Islamic sects, each asserting that its own version of the Mahdiyyah is authentic and valid. As a result, several Islamic movements were orchestrated under the banner of the Mahdiyyah; prominent among them in Africa are those of Muhammad Ibn Tumart (1080-1130), the patron of the Muwaḥḥidūn State in north Africa, Muḥammad AImad ibn ʿAbdullāh (1844-1885), the architect of the Mahdist State in the Sudan (1881-1898) and Sheikh ʿUsmān Dan Fodio (1754-1817), the founder of the Sokoto Caliphate. This article explores the authenticity of the notion of the Mahdiyyah in Islam, which constitutes the basis for the main discourse of the study, namely, the status of the Mahdiyyah as conceived by Sheikh Usman Dan Fodio, and the resultant impact of the Sheikh’s Mahdiyyah on the Sudanese Mahdiyyah.

The paper investigates the efficiency of direct coupling of dc pumping system with the photovoltaic and then when using the MPPT. The paper presents modeling and analysis for dc-dc boost converter. The pulse width modulation (PWM) of the considered converter is determined by the fuzzy controller output depending on the nature of the load and source. The insolation levels variation has been taken into account. The fizzy controller uses the error and change of error to determine the maximum power point at each insolation level. Finally comparison between fuzzy logic controller and direct connection has been carried out which has shown that, the effectiveness of fuzzy controller to draw much power and presents fast system response against change in working conditions is much better than direct coupling method.

The resultant Ag-NP dispersion was successfully used alone and in combination with Disperse Orange 31 or Basic Blue 9 dyes to impart antibacterial properties against Gram-positive (Staphylococcus aureus) and Gram-negative (Escherichia coli) bacteria to polyester and polyacrylonitrile fabrics respectively using microwave treatment. An increase in Ag-NP dispersion concentration by 50% and prolonged microwave irradiation by two minutes significantly improved the antibacterial performance. The EDX spectrum of the Ag-NP loaded substrates confirmed the presence of elemental Ag (Ag0) on the fabrics’ surface. Addition of selected disperse or basic dye to the Ag-NP treatment bath produced disperse or basic dyeings with darker depth of shades and remarkable antibacterial functionality.

This paper discusses potential of ground towards implementation of ground thermal storage by using ground heat exchanger (GHE) to supply passive cooling for any application. Analysis has been conducted based on empirical equation from conduction heat transfer for depth up to 6 m and thermal diffusivity from 0.04 to 0.1 m2/day. The main input parameters were obtained from local weather station for three consecutive years. The results showed that significant reduction of temperature occur at depth below than 2.0 m in which cooling can be supplied constantly throughout the year. Temperature amplitude also gets attenuated relatively with depth in which amplitude less than 1°C occur at depth more than 4 m for thermal diffusivity 0.04 m2/day. In addition, thermal diffusivity plays important role in determining ground temperature variation. It has been obtaine...

Blending coke fines using appropriate binders, such as bitumen and polyacrylic acid, can lead, however, to an improved coke that is similar in structure, appearance and other properties to better-quality coke lumps. In this work, samples of Syrian coke fines were blended with Polyacrylic acid or bitumen and thermally treated at high temperatures and increased residence time in an inert atmosphere of nitrogen at atmospheric pressure. This treatment led to a general improvement of the petcoke qualities. The rate of desulphurization obtained as a result of the thermal treatment was 88% for most coke fines. A small overall reduction in the calorific value of the treated coke was also observed, but this was less than 8% in general.

This brief discussion is exceptionally well-phrased and carries polemic value for believers in pluralism and inclusiveness. Goytisolo's parting reflections are a plea to support a dialogue of civilizations over a clash of civilizations. He compares these efforts to the 15 th century Juan de Segovia, a Spanish bishop who ordered that the Qur 'a n be translated in order to further mutual understanding, and recommended a three-stage solution: a truce of armed hostilities, steps to improve diplomatic, commercial, and cultural ties, and as trust grew, a religious authorities' conference to determine the common ground between the warring sides. This remarkably progressive and novel idea in its times-a classic effort at problem-solving and conflict resolution-never gained serious traction, as he was relegated to isolation in a Swiss monastery. Goytisolo and his intellectual fellow-travelers could be latter-day de Segovias who, if only listened to, might change history's course with an ecumenical vision. This readable work, valuable for general readers, and with food for thought for specialists, may end up with de Segovia's fate. Nevertheless, its call to engagement is noble and necessary amid the escalating hostilities in our era.

STUDY DESIGN: In all, 32 ventilator-dependent preterm infants were prospectively randomized into two groups. The Early Total Parenteral Nutrition (ETPN) group received 3.5 g/kilo-day amino acids (AA), and 3 g/kilo-day of 20% Intralipid (IL), starting within 1 hour after birth. The Late Total Parenteral Nutrition group (LTPN), started on a solution containing glucose during the first 48 hours of life, followed by 2 g/kilo-day of AA and 0.5 g/kilo-day of IL. For the LTPN group AA and IL were each increased by 0.5 g/kilo-day to a maximum of 3.5 and 3 g/kilo-day, respectively. RESULTS: Nitrogen retention was significantly greater in all infants in the ETPN group throughout the 7-day study period. All infants in the LTPN group were in negative nitrogen balance during the first 48 hours of life, while those in the ETPN group were in positive nitrogen balance throughout. The mean (±SD) nitrogen retention in the ETPN was 384.5 mg/kilo-day (±20.2), compared to 203.4 mg/kilo-day (±20.9) in the LTPN group (p <0.001). In each of the first 5 days of life, energy intake was significantly greater in the ETPN group compared to the LTPN group (p <0.001). Mean fluid intake during the study period was similar between, the ETPN and the LTPN groups (162 and 165 cm 3 /kilo-day, respectively). The mean weight gain was similar in the ETPN and LTPN groups. Plasma levels of cholesterol, triglycerides, bicarbonate, blood urea nitrogen, creatinine, and pH were similar in both groups during the study period. Mean (±SD) serum glucose in the LTPN group was higher, but remained in normal range (101.1±5.2 and 80.8±5.4 mg/kilo-day, respectively). The mean peak serum bilirubin was significantly higher in the ETPN group, compared to The LTPN group (7.7 and 6.2 mg/dl). CONCLUSION: This study shows that aggressive intake of AA and IL can be tolerated immediately after birth by VLBW infants. Also, ETPN significantly increased positive nitrogen balance and caloric intake, without increasing the risk of metabolic acidosis, hypercholesterolemia, or hypertriglyceridemia.

Recent development in tropospheric modeling relies on implementation of more accurate numerical weather prediction (NWP) models. In North America one of the NWP-based tropospheric correction models is the NOAA Tropospheric Signal Delay Model (NOAATrop), which was developed by the US National Oceanic and
