Health providers are important stakeholders in the implementation of the SHI system. Objective The objective of this study was to estimate the level of awareness of physicians and managers in Primary Health Care Centers (PHCCs) in Cairo governorate about the new system and the factors affecting it. Method A cross-sectional study was conducted to estimate the awareness level of 100 physicians and managers from PHCCs in Cairo governorate in 2019. PHCCs subjected to this study were selected randomly from the official list of the PHCCs in Cairo governorate from the MOH, and the required sample of physicians was randomly selected inside each center. A semi-structured Arabic interview questionnaire was used, with a reliability coefficient of 0.70. Results The study revealed that t...

Information about workers' awareness about health and safety hazards, risk perception and safe work practices can help to understand where to apply prevention strategies. Unfortunately, construction sites are workplaces with limited access for research; studies at work level represent 2.28% of all available research. Objectives: To estimate the perception of construction workers to the occupational hazards, to identify types of common occupational accidents involving construction workers in an Egyptian company and to identify the workers' personal and work related characteristics determinants on their risk perception. Material and methods: A cross sectional study was conducted among construction workers in one of the projects in Cairo. During the period from January to August 2018; a sample of 104 workers were interviewed using a structured questionnaire inquiring about sociodemographic characteristics, work related variables together with assessment of workers' risk perception. Results: the majority of the workers had low risk perception for falls, contact with chemicals, struck by objects, sharp objects, manual lifting, repetitive movements and heat stress, while the noise was reported as " no or acceptable risk category". The study identified age, health and safety training, working hours and the use of PPEs as significantly related factors to risk perception. Conclusion: risk perception among studied workers in average is low. Older age, prolonged working hours, lack of training and not wearing PPEs are significant risk factors shaping workers' perception. Recommendation: safety training and change of work environment may improve workers' perception toward occupational accidents and subsequently reduce the risk of injuries.

Considered remarkable literary works of the 20 th century by Oxford University Press, nine of her short stories are adapted by Rosalie Kerr to make a level-5 adapted book entitled "The Garden Party and Other Stories." In retelling, several considerations must come into play: the meanings and the literary techniques in the original version and the new audience with limited knowledge of the language, literature, as well as the cultural contexts. The original themes and most literary techniques are essentially maintained. The author's language style that may obstruct the new readers' understanding are modified, mainly vocabulary, colloquialism, and complex syntactic patterns. The adapting strategies used are addition, deletion, substitution, interpretive restatement, and simplification of figurative language. Addition Generally, a retold version is expected to be shorter than its original version. Yet, addition of some details to the simplified text is sometimes necessary to make implicit messages clearer as inexperienced readers may not be able to fully comprehend all points hidden in authentic literary texts. Besides, a text laden with cultural meaning also needs explanation. Additions, therefore, are found in the adapted version in the forms of modifiers or additional details and marking of interior monologue. 47 47 1. Modifiers A modifier gives a better understanding for a reader. Added modifiers found in retold texts are adjectival and adverbial phrases. Below are examples from "The Garden Party." "You'll have to go, Laura; you're the artistic one." (246) 'You'll have to go, Laura. You're the artistic one in this family.' (16)* Without the added prepositional phrase "in this family," the second clause may seem unrelated and thus unclear that the second clause is the reason for the first. Another example is from "The Doll's House." And her little sister, our Else, wore a long white dress, rather like a nightgown, and a pair of little boy's boots. (386) And her little sister, 'our Else,' as Lil always called her, wore a long white dress that looked like a nightdress , and a pair of boy's boots.

In Egypt, it represents 11.4% of TB cases (2.2% of new and 38.2% of previously treated). Our objectives were to evaluate the treatment outcomes and determine the associated prognostic factors among the first national treatment cohort of MDR-TB from 2006 to 2010. All patients diagnosed with MDR-TB from July 2006 to December 2010 who were admitted to Abbassia Chest Hospital, the first Egyptian national center established for MDR-TB treatment, were included. They were followed up clinically, radiologically, and bacteriologically by sputum smear, culture, and drug-susceptibility testing at regular intervals. Individualized treatment regimens were prescribed according to each patient's drug-susceptibility testing and the drug treatment history. Patients received at least five effective drugs. Outcome rates, and crude and adjusted odds ratios of unsuccessful outcomes were calculated. The number of bacteriolo...

A cross-sectional study was conducted followed by intervention prospective study. Women attended the antenatal clinics in two primary health care units of Belbis district through December 2000, which amount to 100 women 50 in each primary health care unit. Data was collected as regard to their age, parity, educational level and occupation. All participating women were subjected to hemoglobin analysis during the first time, after one month and two months. Women with hemoglobin level less than 11 gm/dl were considered anemic. Chi-square and "t" tests (paired and unpaired) were applied to test the relationships among study variables. The prevalence of anemia among pregnant women at the first time booking was 55%. After the intervention ...

Objective: to determine risk factors for overweight and obesity among children; 2-5 years old in Doha city, Qatar. Subjects and Methods: A cross sectional approach was conducted from July 2009 to April 2010. Six primary health care centers were randomly selected using the cluster sample technique. Data was collected by Pre-designed and pre-tested interview questionnaire with children's mothers to elicit the information about children socioeconomic characteristics, dietary history and physical activity. Weight and height were measured and BMI was calculated. Overweight and obesity were assessed by WHO-BMI for age growth charts. Results: the overall prevalence of overweight and obesity was 26.9%. The final model of multiple logistic regression analysis showed that important determinants of overweight and obesity were positive family history of obesity, low levels of physical activity and consuming high caloric food items more than 4 times per week. Conclusion: The study documented high prevalence of overweight and obesity among preschool children in Doha city. Family history of obesity, low levels of playing outdoors and dietary pattern were determinants of overweight/obesity. Suitable recommendations were issued to prevent childhood overweight and obesity among preschoolers.

Therefore, it is crucial for TB elimination programs to identify catastrophic costs and their main drivers to establish appropriate health and social measures. Objectives: To measure the percentage of catastrophic costs experienced by Egyptian TB patients and to identify its determinants. Methods: A prospective cohort study was conducted with 151 Egyptian TB patients recruited from two chest dispensaries from the Cairo governorate starting from May 2019 until May 2020. A validated WHO TB patient cost tool was used to collect data on patients' demographic information, household income, and direct and indirect expense of seeking TB treatment. We considered catastrophic TB costs to be total costs exceeding 20% of the household's annual income. Results: Of the patients, 33% experienced catastrophic costs. The highest proportion of total came in the pre-treatment stage. Being the main breadwinner, experiencing job loss, selling property, and the occurrence of early COVID-19 lockdown were independent determinants of the incidence of catastrophic costs. Borrowing money and selling property were the most-often reported coping strategies adopted. Conclusion: Despite the availability of free TB care under the Egyptian National TB Program, nearly one-third of the TB patients incurred catastrophic costs. Job loss and being the main breadwinner were among the significant predictors of catastrophic costs. Recommendation: Social protection mechanisms, including cash assistance and insurance coverage, are necessary to achieve the goal of the End TB Strategy.
