Informed perspectives across medical profession explaining beneficial effects of inoculation, however, various personal views persist which lead to confusion among general public. Objectives: To describe demographic characteristics among education institutions and their willingness to be vaccinated. Methods: Data were collected by google forms, in February 2021. The online form was then pre-tested on 10 respondents to refine questions prior to commencing the survey. Convenience sampling was administered for the selection of voluntary respondents. Data cleaning was done prior to the data analysis. Recoding of string variables and omittion of invalid responses were also done. Descriptive statistics was undertaken in a genuine licensed software of IBM SPSS Statistics version 26. Results: A total of 401 respondents answered the survey. More than ...

We investigate how severely the farmers were impacted when the super typhoon hit central Philippines in 2013, causing massive damages to the coconut industry. We used a cross-sectional data set collected through face-to-face surveys to quantify the adverse effect of the super typhoon on the livelihood of coconut dependent farmers in Leyte island. The estimation was done through an empirical investigation that tackles the methodological issue in assessing the effect of extreme weather event shock on the socio-economic status of farmers. As households were not randomly assigned to the typhoon-affected group, the propensity score matching method was used in comparing the changes in livelihood between severely affected farmers and relatively less affected farmers. Results show that the onslaught of the super typhoon has significantly reduced the income of coconut farmers. The estimated reduction in income is at least 20,649.89 Philippine pesos (405 USD) per hectare annually. Replanting coconut will take around 7–9 years before it can return to full production capacity. With the drastic decrease in farm income due to the super typhoon, farmers coped by exploring other sources of income, such as by raising livestock, growing other crops, and intercropping coconut farms with coffee or cacao and working off-farm. None of the coconut farmers availed of crop insurance. Results suggest that there is a need to enhance the role of climate-resilient agricultural practices for farmers to cope with extreme weather events.

This plan adopted a revised vision, mission, goals, and objectives (VMGO). This study was undertaken to assess VSU stakeholders' awareness and acceptance of the university's VMGO after its four years of implementation. A descriptive research method was utilized, and the survey instruments were facilitated online via Google forms to reach all VSU constituents, including the four satellite campuses. This approach was chosen because of the preventive measures associated with the COVID-19 pandemic. Two survey forms with Likert-scale-based questions were designed for two groups of respondents. One is for VSU faculty, staff and, other stakeholders (i.e., alumni, partners, residents of nearby barangays) with 124 responses, and a separate survey form for undergraduate students with 159 responses. The results of the study revealed a high level of awareness and acceptance of VSU VMGO among its stakehol...

Personal interviews were conducted among 152 randomly selected respondents. Principal Component Analysis was used to estimate the vulnerability index. Results of the study show that more than 80% of households experienced flooding in their homes, usually due to heavy rains, or a combination of heavy rains and high tide. However, households were indirectly sensitive to climate change impacts because more depend on non-natural resource-based income. Living in houses made up of light materials, make them more vulnerable to natural hazards. More than the geographic location and physical features, these communities are potentially vulnerable to climate change owing to the prevailing socio-economic conditions in the area as well as the capacity of households to adapt to climate-related hazards. Policies such as establishment of mangrove forests or physical in...

However, observations of the National Food Authority domestic procurement and price stabilization policy, as well as results of the marketing and market-related studies, still reveal some gaps which call forth for an in-depth investigation and analysis. One ofthese is the possible presence ofmarket power, a market inefficiency in rice. Hence, this study aimed to ascertain the presence of market power in the Philippine rice industry. Secondary data published by the Philippine Statistics Authority from 1990 to 2015 were utilized. A structural econometric model using a time series approach was used in estimating the presence of market power. Results revealed the presence of market power in non-major rice-producing regions for well-milled and regular-milled rice in major rice-producing areas. The more the demand curve becomes inelastic the more the market power becomes apparent. The price elastic...
