The major constituents of leaves of C. arborea were β-selinene (23.9%), ar-turmerone (17.5%) and α-copaene (8.9%), with lesser concentrations of caryophyllene oxide (4.9%) and ar-turmerol (3.9%). The chemical composition of this essential oil sample is being reported for the first time.

The japonica cultivars showed more vigorous shoot elongation than indica cultivars under submergence in the dark, whereas an opposite response was observed under the light-dark submergence. Both Nipponbare and FR13A that are respectively known as submergence intolerant and tolerant cultivars showed vigorous shoot growth under submergence and high recovery after the stress, irrespective of the light/dark conditions. The results show that vigorous shoot growth enables rice seedlings to escape and survive submergence stress. RT-PCR analysis showed that expression of SUB1A, which is known as a key gene controlling submergence tolerance, was induced in elongating seedlings of FR13A and other indica cultivars including floating rice under submergence with light illumination. Our results suggest that light-induced SUB1A gene expression does no...

The as-synthesized BiVO4 samples were characterized by a number of physicochemical techniques including X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman analysis, Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM), and UV-Visible (UV-Vis) light diffuse reflectance spectrophotometry. The effect of temperatures calcination on structure, surface morphology, visible-light photocatalytic activity and light absorption performance of BiVO4 was discussed in details.

The obtained BiVO 4 catalyst was characterized by XRD, Raman, SEM, and UV-vis DRS. The effect of H 2 O 2 concentrate, pH, and MB initial concentration on the removal rate of MB was carefully studied. The results showed that MB was decolorized entirely after 30 min in the BiVO 4 /H 2 O 2 /Vis process whereas the decomposition rate of BiVO 4 with the absence of H 2 O 2 is 78% after 60 min. The accelerated degradation of MB by in the BiVO 4 /H 2 O 2 /Vis process is due to H 2 O 2 acts as the external electron acceptor, which could promote the separation of photo-induced electrons and holes.

In the three (3) types of solvents used (acetone, ethanol, and methanol), 90% acetone was the appropriate solvent to extract chlorophyll from mulberry leaves giving a total chlorophyll concentration of 0.341%, in which chlorophyll achieved a concentration of 63%. Some factors such as temperature, material/solvent ratio, extraction time were also investigated. This survey was studied for optimum use a Box-Wilson central composite design consisting of 03 independent variables (temperature, materials/solvent ratio and extraction time) and two dependent variables (total chlorophyll and chlorophyll a ratio. Second-order polynomial equations were obtained for the responses, which fitted well with the experimental data. Select the optimal conditions are T=26.75 º C, material/ solvent ratio 12.67 %, τ = 24.3 h. Optimal results are found out conditions to obtain the highest chlorophyll total (Y 1(opt) = 0.354%) while chlorophyll a ratio at the desired concentration Y 2 > 60%.

This study aimed to fabricate two composite photocatalysts using either Fe3O4 or NiFe2O4 with MIL-53(Fe) as heterogeneous catalysts for the degradation of rhodamine B (RhB) under visible light irradiation by a 40 W compact fluorescent lamp. The physicochemical, the surface, the magnetic and the energy band gap of the photocatalyst were characterized by XRD, FT-IR, Raman, FE-SEM, UV-vis DRS, Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET), and VSM. From the photocatalytic activities test results, the NiFe2O4-doped MIL-53(Fe) sample expressed a higher photocatalytic degradation capacity of RhB than that of Fe3O4/MIL-53(Fe) sample, significantly better than that of the bare of Fe3O4, NiFe2O4, and MIL-53(Fe).

Improvement in salt tolerance of rice for target stress regions is one of the important objectives of many breeding programs. In this study, we are currently applying a MABC (marker-assisted backcrossing) system on foreground selection, recombinant selection followed by background selection for development of Vietnamese rice variety that can tolerate salinity of rised sea water. The highly salt tolerant FL478 was used as a donor to transfer Saltol QTL into Bacthom 7 recipient rice cultivar. A total of 368 SSR markers were conducted to identify 8 markers in Saltol locus and 81 markers in other loci with total of 89 (24%) polymophic markers between the parents, out of which 88 markers were then applied to analyze genotyping of each backross generation with three steps of selection. The results showed that, the best plants of BC3F1 generation carry segments of th...

Smaller correction grids, smaller fragment lengths and the introduction of pixel-based simulation lead to highly fragmented data fueling the trend of larger file sizes as well as increasing the writing times of the vector shaped beam systems commonly used for making

We compared the expression profiles of two key genes in rice for ethylene biosynthesis-1-aminocyclopropane-1-carboxylate synthase (OsACS) and oxidase (OsACO) genes, and five Na + /H + exchanger (OsNHX) paralogs under normal and submerged conditions. The amount of transcripts was studied by RT-PCR using seedlings of one japonica and three indica cultivars with different levels of seedling vigor under submergence. In both types, submergence induced marked accumulation of transcripts of all paralogs of OsACS and OsACO except for OsACS1, which showed complete repression under the stress in non-vigorous indica cultivars suggesting its key role in seedling vigor under submergence. OsNHX expression was also enhanced under submergence, and the levels of OsNHX1 and OsNHX5 transcripts agreed well with those of seedling vigor under submergence. The observed mode of OsACS, OsACO and OsNHX expression under submergence suggests that these genes can be potential targets for understanding the mechanism regulating seedling vigor under submergence at the post-germination stage in rice.

Although screening is considered an effective measure to prevent and control colorectal cancer, there is no such effort in Vietnam. Methods Between 01 January 2018 and 31 October 2019, a population-based colorectal cancer screening program was conducted in Hanoi, Vietnam. A health advocacy campaign and follow-up phone calls were used to enroll residents aged ≥40 years old to complete an immunochemical-fecal occult blood testing. Positive immunochemical-fecal occult blood testing was followed by a colonoscopy. We also conducted a systematic review of the colorectal cancer screening programs in the Asia-Pacific region that used similar approach by searching Ovid Medline and PubMed databases. Results During study period, 103 542 individuals among 672 742 eligible residents attended the screening of whom 81.5% participants finished immunochemical-fecal occult blood testing test and th...
