English teacher have to be perfect in many aspects especially the English skills. To improve all ... more English teacher have to be perfect in many aspects especially the English skills. To improve all those skills a teacher wanna be or we call it as Pre-service teacher have to through some teaching practice or micro-teaching. In micro-teaching they are trained to be a perfect and skilled teacher. Their skills are improved in micro-teaching. Before they are go further to be a teacher they have to prepare themselves does their skills are good enough to teach the students. In this present study with the title "The correlation between Pre-service English teacher listening habit and pronunciation awareness" have an objective to identify the correlation between their listening habit and pronunciation awareness. Does the amount of the time or kind of English that they are listening to give a significant impact to their pronunciation awareness. And the finding of this research shows that the RXY 0,089 it is indicates that it has very strong correlation between pre-service English teacher listening habit and pronunciation awareness. The identification of their listening habit questionnaire shows that any of them are have fair listening habit that need to be risen up so they could improve their pronunciation awareness.

Thematic Progression is considered as appropriate way to generate how cohesive and coherence the ... more Thematic Progression is considered as appropriate way to generate how cohesive and coherence the writing is. The studies of thematic progression have illustrated its use as a tool to characterize EFL/ESL writing as successful or less successful in terms of coherence. The research is projected to contribute research on linguistic and discourse analysis especially on the thematic progression from first paragraph of background of study in thesis proposal. It is expected to be one of the guidance for both students and lecturers about thematic progression to make the writing coherent and cohesion. The research took place in the English Teacher Education Department at UIN Sunan Ampel Surabaya whose subjects are the eight semester students who had enrolled to thesis writing and passed the thesis proposal examination. The research analyzed 12 backgrounds of studies from all students who had passed their seminar proposal examination during the even semester in academic year 2016/2017. This research used the qualitative method to present the findings about the thematic progression in students' background of study along with the discussion of the word which contains thematic progression. Two types of patterns were examined: those which enhance the coherence and those which obscured coherence. The former included reiteration, zigzag , and multiple patterns while the latter included brand new theme, empty use of there, and the use of dummy it. The finding of this research indicates that the most frequent type of thematic progression patterns which enhanced coherence is 33 reiteration patterns, followed by 23 zigzag patterns and then zero of multiple patterns. Then, the most frequent of thematic progression which obscured coherence is six brand new themes, then followed by one of empty use of there and zero of the use of dummy it.

The main source of the data is observation in students in the third semester at English Teaching Education Department (ETED) of UINSA. This case is gotten in qualitative data by observing the class and interview with some students in the third semester in Written English (WE) class at English Teaching Education Department (ETED) of UINSA. This case study makes conclude that the results of this case are most of the students can't write with the correct grammar, not only that, but also the teachers don't understand what strategies for students.

Project Based Learning (PBL) in English for Specific Purpose (ESP) has been believed to enable st... more Project Based Learning (PBL) in English for Specific Purpose (ESP) has been believed to enable student to have hand on and contextual experiences related to their English Language Learning. In addition to the teaching and learning process, project can also be used as an assessment instrument through PBL. Despite the possible project-based assessment, the existing studies have mainly focused on the PBL as a teaching and learning approach with less attention on assessment. This paper describes the use of project based assessment in two ESP courses in an Islamic college in East Java. The stages of the assessment and students’ responses on the benefit and challenges are presented. Implication for PBL in English language teaching and learning and other possible implementation of project-based assessment are also presented in the paper.

Classroom climate also refers to the model of interpersonal relationship between teachers and stu... more Classroom climate also refers to the model of interpersonal relationship between teachers and students, the relationship between students, and the classroom management style as well. However, the classroom climate is one of the important things that should be considered by all the teachers in teaching learning process. But, there is still poor evidence that justified those issues. So, this study aimed to examine the classroom climate in single gender classroom which is contributed in learning speaking. This study has taken in one of Islamic Junior High School in Krian, Sidoarjo at 8th grade students only. Four classes were taken as a sample with the purpose by student's level. In addition, the researcher uses survey research using questionnaire and direct observation which use an observation checklist as an instrument. The result of this study was determined by the classroom climate level which is positive, moderate, negative and poor classroom climate. After conducting research, the result identified that there are 2 classrooms which is categorized as having a positive classroom climate. It is observed 90% and 91% of positive item occurred in the classroom. There are also 2 of the classroom observed as negative and poor.

Melalui kosakata bahasa, cara berpikir dan budaya suatu penutur bahasa dapat terungkap. Bahasa sebagai penguak kebudayaan penuturnya juga dapat digunakan untuk menguak budaya maritim yang sangat dekat dengan penduduk Indonesia. It provides students with the concept and brings them in contextualizing their concept that they have already learned in the classroom. This study explores the process of enacting service learning using asset-based approach to university-community engagement. This study employed multiple data sets from observation, semi-structured interviews with teachers and principles, focused group discussion with students, and students’ products of digital textbooks. The findings revealed that service learning using the asset-based approach empowered all the stakeholders and contributed to emergence of the equitable partnership between university and community. The students’ product of a digital textbook represents collaboration between English teachers, the teacher educator, and the university students who successfully designed learning resources that meet the academic level and ...
