The reasons for that are strictly connected with a remarkable structural change of the ownership. That has been the source of an enormous success of some companies and the failure of the others. What is more the play for Polish beer market has resulted in the engagement of the world's and European biggest brewing companies. Consequently, most of the models of companies' behaviour characteristic for global market have been implemented, including change in such fields as marketing or supply chain for instance. However, the pattern that seems to emerge fits only to the 'giants' of the beer market. The significant number of the smaller ones has been able to find effective ways of functioning, too. All of these make the brewing industry in Poland a good example in the globalisation versus rationalization's dilemma8910

Initially, the idea was to open just a handful of zones located in single-function industrial regions affected by or exposed to structural unemployment. Investor benefits included a full income-tax holiday for a half of the special zone's life (typically ten years) and exemption from real-estate taxation. Subsequently, the initial conditions were considerably modified under the influence of various pressure groups, including the European Commission, the central government, major international investors, and local authorities. The tax benefits were reduced, but the eligibility was extended to new industries and new company types while the overall number of special zones consistently increased. With more than 150 locations enjoying a special status, the SEZs have lost their nature of regional policy tools, almost becoming standard forms of public aid for companies, reg...

In technical infrastructure, one may notice a few per cent increase in comparison with existing infrastructure. In case of results indicators, which estimate the number of users of the resultant infrastructure, the level of impact is more significant. Projects realized influence the functions of urban areas of various levels: upper level-science and specialized business services, middle level-education and health care, and lower level-economic and spare time services. The scale of projects' influence is diversified and depends on the settlement hierarchy and importance of activity supported within the project. Projects focused on development of public transport services are significant part of undertakings, which affect urban surroundings. Within The Regional Operational Programme of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, there are several dozen of projects currently realized in Rzeszów and its surroundings, which strengthen the urban functions of the city in the region and over it (metropolitan functions). However, the influence of the projects realized within The Regional Operational Programme of the Podkarpackie Voivodeship on the spatial-functional integration of Rzeszów Metropolitan Area is limited. Most of local authorities asked point out, that the influence of the realized projects on the number of residents and external investors is moderate. According to respondents, the public intervention contributes to increase of the economic competitiveness of the urban areas, enterprise development and innovation, as well as creation of the new work places. Projects realized within the urban areas do not influence significantly the temporal accessibility, but increase the level of public safety and comfort of travelling. By reason of current realization of projects within the road transport, rail transport and air transport, the territorial accessibility of the region will increase as well. Concentration of investments within the metropolitan area of Rzeszów (like the airport and S7 express road) and along A4 motorway (motorway, railroad to Kraków) may have an impact on differences between the level of accessibility of the core area and the periphery of the voivodeship. The future assurance of direct communication between the north and south of the voivodeship (S19 express road) and further works on the access routes to A4 motorway and S19 express road will be crucial for preserving the territorial cohesion. Action undertaken within the Priority axis VII of the Regional Operational Programme for the Podkarpackie Voivodeship, should be accepted as positive, as these create foundations for the stable regional urban policy. Revitalization was the tool chosen to have that aim achieved. It was included in Action 7.1: Revitalization of urban areas and Action 7.2: Revitalization of degraded areas, which concentrated 96,5 per cent of all undertaken actions within the axis. Whole number of actions worth 300 million PLN was gained with co-financing of seventy-four per cent, which is almost 222 million PLN. All co-financed projects reflected the needs of particular towns within the voivodeship. In modern Poland, the use of geothermal energy is so far limited. There are several plants that use geothermal energy for heating purposes, but the cost-effectiveness of this type of investment is low. For several years, a rapid development of so-called thermal parks has been observed, which is related with a newfound fashionability of the healthy lifestyle. Particularly advantageous geological conditions in the region of Podhale, as well as the significant tourist popularity of this area in general all year round, make this type of investment substantially profitable. In other parts of the country, only a few relatively small thermal parks are operational and development is not easy because of the high start-up cost and difficulty of providing adequate financial resources
