The design of an intelligent maximum power point tracker (MPPT) supported by a robust sliding-mode (SM) controller is discussed in this study. The proposed control scheme is designed to track the MPP and provide a smooth system response by removing the overshoot in the load current during any variation in the connected load. Such a system is suitable for DC–DC buck converter applications. The study begins with modelling the buck converter for a continuous current mode operation. The reference voltage of the tracking system is produced by the proposed neural network (NN) algorithm. The proposed intelligent MPPT integrated with an SM controller is simulated in a MATLAB®/Simulink® platform. The simulation results are analysed to investigate and confirm the satisfaction level of the adopted four-serially connected PV-modules sy...

The proposed system fuses the results obtained from three classification systems to enhance the melanoma detection rate. All of the classification systems use Support Vector Machine classifier. However, the image feature sets used in each classification system are different. The features sets used are Wavelets and Color features, Curvelets features and Grey Level Co-occurrence Matrices features. The output class labels or class probabilities of the three classification systems are combined using Majority Voting or Averaging Fusion to obtain enhanced classification rates. The dataset used include digital images for benign and malignant skin lesions. Experimental results show that the proposed multi-classifier fusion method outperforms standalone Skin Lesion classification systems in terms of recognition accuracy. Consequently, this can increase the chances of non-invasive melanoma detection from digital images.

It is essential for exchanging the measured Data in the network and making informed conclusions. This paper reviews the localization techniques for Wireless Sensor Networks Nodes. It presents a mathematical model for finding sensors locations based on Received Signal Strength Indicators (RSSI) and takes care of the measurement noise involved. It also carries out a comparison between centralized and decentralized localization in terms of the average consumed communication power by the network to achieve the localization of the nodes. Different scenarios are simulated by varying the geographical deployment area of the network and the number of nodes used. Evaluation results show that decentralized localization consumes less communication power and is more scalable than the centralized approach.

Different algorithms for maximum power point tracking (MPPT) to improve the PV systems have reviewed in this chapter. A step-by-step overall design of any desired single-phase or three-phase alternating power of any capacity for a PV matrix-based microgrid system, in addition to the role and the importance of inserting DC-DC converter in t...

This study considers the fact of the necessity of Maximum Power Point Tracking working conditions of the PV panels to harvest maximum electrical power during the weather variations. It considers also the panel temperature reduction which affects positively the panel ability in terms of producing additional electrical power. By this consideration, this study proposes a new design, and simulation results with analysis of a hybrid PV system. The system is able to deliver 5 kW, through the day hours, with less number of PV panels based on a hybrid technique. The proposed technique combines two manipulating processes. The first one guarantees the Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) condition during day hours through an artificial Neural Network (ANN) controller. Whereas the second one focuses on reducing the panel temperature by introduci...
