More than 20 years after its initial report, Afghanistan submitted its second periodic report to ... more More than 20 years after its initial report, Afghanistan submitted its second periodic report to the Committee against Torture (CAT) in 2016. While highlighting political and legal challenges as well as relevant legislation, the state report falls short in addressing
the most pressing issues when it comes to the absolute prohibition of torture and other ill-treatment. In order for the CAT to gain a better picture about the problems
and challenges in the fight against torture, a number of Afghan civil society organizations, upon the initiative of the Civil Society and Human Rights Network (CSHRN), formed an Anti-torture coalition to draft and submit the first civil society shadow report to the CAT Committee.

The protection of honour within family and community is essential and influences the roles and social norms in Afghanistan. Family structures follow a traditional patriarchal structure, men are the breadwinners and primary decision makers and women are caretakers and wives. Children are raised
within these gender specific roles as well.
Afghan population projections range from 28.1 million to 32 million total population, with 50 per cent of the population 17 years old and under, and an estimated 12.2 million under fifteen years old. Afghanistan is making small improvements in the 2014 Human Development indicators, but is still ranked 169th out of 187 countries overall.

تاریخ گفت و گوهای صلح،‌ آشتی ملی و گُذار از منازعه در افغانستان بی هیچ استنثایی در بیش از سه دهه ... more تاریخ گفت و گوهای صلح،‌ آشتی ملی و گُذار از منازعه در افغانستان بی هیچ استنثایی در بیش از سه دهه اخیر، تاریخ سرشار از شکست های پیاپی و تلخ کامی های فراوان طرف های درگیر و حتی شهروندان بی طرف بوده است.
وقتی به پیشینه حل منازعات و تجربه شکست تلاش های صلح در این کشور نگریسته می شود، چیزی که به مثابه مخرج مشترک این همه شکست ها شمرده می شود،‌ بی توجهی و نادیده انگاشتن زمینه ها، ریشه ها و دلایل منازعه و جنگی بوده که کماکان ادامه دارد.

More than 20 years after its initial report, Afghanistan submitted its second periodic report to ... more More than 20 years after its initial report, Afghanistan submitted its second periodic report to the Committee against Torture (CAT) in 2016. While highlighting political and legal challenges as well as relevant legislation, the state report falls short in addressing
the most pressing issues when it comes to the absolute prohibition of torture and other ill-treatment. In order for the CAT to gain a better picture about the problems
and challenges in the fight against torture, a number of Afghan civil society organizations, upon the initiative of the Civil Society and Human Rights Network (CSHRN), formed an Anti-torture coalition to draft and submit the first civil society shadow report to the CAT Committee.

The protection of honour within family and community is essential and influences the roles and social norms in Afghanistan. Family structures follow a traditional patriarchal structure, men are the breadwinners and primary decision makers and women are caretakers and wives. Children are raised
within these gender specific roles as well.
Afghan population projections range from 28.1 million to 32 million total population, with 50 per cent of the population 17 years old and under, and an estimated 12.2 million under fifteen years old. Afghanistan is making small improvements in the 2014 Human Development indicators, but is still ranked 169th out of 187 countries overall.

وقتی به پیشینه حل منازعات و تجربه شکست تلاش های صلح در این کشور نگریسته می شود، چیزی که به مثابه مخرج مشترک این همه شکست ها شمرده می شود،‌ بی توجهی و نادیده انگاشتن زمینه ها، ریشه ها و دلایل منازعه و جنگی بوده که کماکان ادامه دارد.
