No country wants to be left behind in the tech war as there may be far-reaching consequences in m... more No country wants to be left behind in the tech war as there may be far-reaching consequences in military, health, and well-being, industrial applications, technology, banking, financial services, urbanization, and other facets of private and national life. For an emergent country like Nigeria, the cost of being left behind is enormous and may mean the continuous peril of underdevelopment wrought by over-dependence on other nations for essential services. This paper provides perspectives on sectors where the deployment of the 5G telecommunication network could be a swift driver of an emergent Nigeria. It also highlights the particular challenges facing the deployment of the 5G technology in Nigeria. The study adopted the use of secondary sources to obtain relevant preexisting data to facilitate the research objectives. Restrictions in movement necessitated this approach to curtail the spread of the Coronavirus. The research findings revealed the enormous multi-sectorial benefits of deploying the 5G technology in an emergent Nigeria and the inherent challenges. It is envisaged that the ideas highlighted in the study findings would provide useful guidance for policy directors in the quest for a better emergent Nigeria.

In recent years, a wireless sensor network is gaining much more importance due to its immense con... more In recent years, a wireless sensor network is gaining much more importance due to its immense contribution in numerous applications. Deployment of sensor nodes that would reduce computation, minimize cost and gaining high degree of network connectivity is an challenging task. Random deployment of sensor nodes causes the wireless sensor networks to face topological weaknesses such as communication bottlenecks, network partitions and sensing holes. These problems lead to uneven energy utilization, reduction in reliability of network and reduction in network lifetime. Bottleneck detection algorithm is proposed to identify bottleneck and minimal bottleneck zones in network. Additional sensor node deployment strategy is used in bottleneck detection algorithm to extend network lifetime. Random additional sensor node deployment and Targeted additional sensor node deployment are proposed to enhance network lifetime. Deployment strategies are compared with respect to network parameters such as throughput, packet delivery fraction and network lifetime.

In this scheme, the control functionalities are relocated to a logically centralized SDN controller which makes efficient and globally optimal forwarding decisions for network devices. Despite the fact that network virtualization technologies enable elastic capacity engineering and seamless fault recovery of the SDN controller, an optimal controller placement strategy that can adapt to changes in networks is an important but underexplored research topic. This paper proposes a novel deep reinforcement learning-based model that dynamically and strategically adjusts the location of the controller to minimize the OpenFlow latency in a virtualized environment. The experimental results demonstrate that the proposed strategy out performs both a random strategy and a generic strategy. Furthermore, this paper provides detailed instructions on how to implement the proposed model in realworld software-defined networks.

Said mobility alters the network's topology, the channel's availability, and affects spectrum sensing. This makes any endeavor aiming to implement CR technology complicated. This paper is devoted to the analysis and discussion of the scientific literature that has addressed the issue of the primary user's mobility.

These networks are likely to be composed of hundreds, and potentially thousands of tiny sensor nodes, functioning autonomously, and in many cases, without access to renewable energy resources. Cost constraints and the need for ubiquitous, invisible deployments will result in small sized, resource-constrained sensor nodes. While the set of challenges in sensor networks are diverse, we focus on security of Wireless Sensor Network in this paper. We propose some of the security goal for Wireless Sensor Network. Further, security being vital to the acceptance and use of sensor networks for many applications; we have made an in depth threat analysis of Wireless Sensor Network. We also propose some countermeasures against these threats in Wireless Sensor Network.

This paper proposes a new scalable service-oriented architecture based on Open Service Gateway In... more This paper proposes a new scalable service-oriented architecture based on Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGI) technology. A key part of this architecture is its SIP application as a service (SIP-AS). It relies on IMS core network supported by multi agents components implemented using Java Agent DEvelopment (JADE) platform. As a proof of concept, a real testbed/prototype has been developed to validate our approach. The validation process consisted of two phases: (i) configuration of the JADE/OSGi SIP-AS architecture to provide a televoting service and (ii) characterization and analysis of jitter, packet loss, load capacity and CPU utilization of the implemented architecture. Results demonstrate that this televoting service scales up and out enabling the elasticity of the architecture on the processing of concurrent calls and dynamic load balancing.

The emergence of sensor networks as one of the dominant technology trends in the coming decades h... more The emergence of sensor networks as one of the dominant technology trends in the coming decades has posed numerous unique challenges to researchers. These networks are likely to be composed of hundreds, and potentially thousands of tiny sensor nodes, functioning autonomously, and in many cases, without access to renewable energy resources. Cost constraints and the need for ubiquitous, invisible deployments will result in small sized, resource-constrained sensor nodes. While the set of challenges in sensor networks are diverse, we focus on security of Wireless Sensor Network in this paper. We propose some of the security goal for Wireless Sensor Network. Further, security being vital to the acceptance and use of sensor networks for many applications; we have made an in depth threat analysis of Wireless Sensor Network. We also propose some countermeasures against these threats in Wireless Sensor Network.

The mobility of primary users is likely to reduce the overall performance of the Cognitive Radio Network (CRN) and affects the different phases of the cognitive cycle. Said mobility alters the network’s topology, the channel’s availability, and affects spectrum sensing. This makes any endeavor aiming to implement CR technology complicated. This paper is devoted to the analysis and discussion of the scientific literature that has addressed the issue of the primary user’s mobility.

However, with an explosion of wireless mobile applications and services, there are still some challenges on the spectrum crisis and high energy consumption. Wireless system designers have been facing the continuously increasing demand for high data rates and spectrum sharing required by new wireless applications and therefore have started research on future WiFi wireless technologies that are expected to be deployed beyond 2020. In this article we propose WiFi key technologies and there prospective: WiFi CERTIFIED TM ac and Wi Fi CERTIFIED passpoint TM. Also represent super WiFi such as WiGig solution, White Fi, HetNets and Cognitive Fi. Future applications and services facing these potential technologies are also discussed.

This paper proposes a new scalable service-oriented architecture based on Open Service Gateway In... more This paper proposes a new scalable service-oriented architecture based on Open Service Gateway Initiative (OSGI) technology. A key part of this architecture is its SIP application as a service (SIP-AS). It relies on IMS core network supported by multi agents components implemented using Java Agent DEvelopment (JADE) platform. As a proof of concept, a real testbed/prototype has been developed to validate our approach. The validation process consisted of two phases: (i) configuration of the JADE/OSGi SIP-AS architecture to provide a televoting service and (ii) characterization and analysis of jitter, packet loss, load capacity and CPU utilization of the implemented architecture. Results demonstrate that this televoting service scales up and out enabling the elasticity of the architecture on the processing of concurrent calls and dynamic load balancing.

Many survey of spectrum utilization shows that entire spectrum is not used at all the times, so many of the radio spectrum is underutilized. Some of the frequency bands in the spectrum are unoccupied, some of the frequency bands less occupied and few bands are over utilized. Cognitive radio system is a technique which overcomes that spectrum underutilization. Cognitive radio is a technique where secondary user looks for a free band to use when primary user is not in use of its licensed band. A function of cognitive radio is called Spectrum sensing which enables to search for the free bands and it helps to detect the spectrum hole (frequency band which is free enough to be used) which can be utilized by secondary user with high spectral resolution capability. The idea of simulation and analysis of Cognitive Radio System to reuse unused spectrum to increase the total system capacity was brought in this paper and this work digs into the practical implementation of a Cognitive radio system.
