This study examines the impact of timber export on economic growth in Sierra Leone between 1990 and 2020 using time series data from the Statistic Sierra Leone and World Development Indicators. The analysis uses cointegration and error, correction models. The findings from the result showed that timber export has an insignificant effect on the economic growth of Sierra Leone in both the short and long run. The findings recommend, among other things, that policies aimed at increasing the productivity and quality of timber be implemented. Furthermore, the additional value needs to be added to the timber before exporting. Correspondingly, the professional knowledge and expertise needed to transform the harvested timber to final products made available by training local technicians in the timber processing value chain.

A framework of unit root test, co-integration and error correction model(ECM) using the Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) econometric technique is conducted spanning the period 1988-2013.The study reveals that Intellectual Property rights spurs economic growth and a key driver of competitiveness but has a significant negative long run functional relationship with competitiveness. Therefore, policies that enhance law enforcements ability and capacity to detect, investigate, and prosecute Intellectual Property defaulters are essential and be used by policy makers as a proxy for effective, efficient and better protection of Intellectual Property Rights in the Policy implication process in China. Future research direction could be the nexus between the performance of competitiveness sector and Economic growth in China.

The purpose of this study is to assess and examine 24 Countries in Sub-Sahara Africa during the period 2003 to 2013(10 years) to investigate whether or not the Chinese Outward Direct Investment to Africa stimulate the Sino-African Trade cooperation with a clarity showing the rigidity which both parties have to balance to enforce the win-win benefit. For data analyses, the study adopts a panel data to analyze Chinese ODI exports to Africa, and a time series data to investigate the effect of its imports from Africa. The study reveals that Chinese Outward Direct Investment to Africa has contributed significantly and paying off as it has plays a vital role in increasing Chinese exports to Africa as well as imports from Africa espe...

This paper examines the impact of National Innovation System on Agricultural Development Productivity Growth as a poverty alleviation tool towards the transformation of subsistence level of farming to commercialization in Sierra Leone since 2005 to 2014 inclusive. The Multiple Regression Model (MRM) OLS econometric techniques and Time series data analyses were used for the study to estimate the relationship between agricultural development productivity growth as a dependent variable and its potential macro elements as explanatory variables. Given the implication of national innovation systems on agricultural development productivity growth, it is imperative to investigate key impacts of innovation systems on agricultural productivity growth on the Sierra Leone Economy from 2005-2014 inclusive, using Augmented Dickey-Fuller (ADF) unit root test, Johansen’s test of co-integration and the Error Correctio...

This paper examines the relationship between exchange rate, GDP growth, money growth and inflation in Sierra Leone from 1980 to 2013 using descriptive statistics and regression methods for the data obtained from the world development indicators (WDI) data base. Inflation was the dependent variable while its potential macro elements were explanatory variables. The correlation result revealed that, there is an absence of multicollinearity among the variables in the model. The result of the long-run co-integrating relationship in the model shows that GDP growth has significant negative effect on inflation in Sierra Leone whereas exchange rate, foreign price level and money supply growth have a positive effect. Given the implication of these macroeconomic indicators, it is imperative on government to ensure that the liqu...
