In this line, an instructional innovation to be applied in language for specific purposes (LSP) undergraduate courses is introduced. Project-based learning has been enhanced by an electronic platform; namely, e-Class, a learning management system, to amplify its impact. A threefold research into current theories on (a) key issues in LSP framework, (b) adult education, and (c) foreign language learning and pedagogical orientations leads us to this model. The result is an e-methodology, pedagogically rather than technology driven, for teaching/learning LSP in the framework of discipline-related, content-based instruction (CBI) and project work that will eventually enhance and modernize teaching and learning LSP and develop new study habits for learners by promoting self-directed, autonomous, active, and out-of-classroom learning, and by encouraging student engagement and academic socialization in the higher educational institution (HEI) to which they belong.

The tool is a multi-purpose one which is mainly addressed to tourists, teachers, or researchers. The users are facilitated in deriving historical data, challenged to connect with the past, and are invited to explore the history and the time period, archaeological ruins, and monuments of the past through virtual reality. In order to achieve this goal, the system exploits a dynamically designed and organised chronology, which can provide historical content for various places and cities in different times of their history. Users are given the freedom to choose “place” and “time” and consequently to have access to a variety of content (including 2D or 3D models, text, photos, ...

A methodological framework which is considered appropriate, respecting individuality and enhancing (Gardner’s) multiple intelligences is analysed and applied in an experimental course intelligences is analysed and applied in an experimental course which addresses academic/research skills development through project-based instruction. This piece of research is thus two-fold as it proposes a dual shift which involves new content (skills) and a modern mode of acquisition. The pedagogical considerations and learning objectives are outlined and the effectiveness of this approach is investigated through the evaluation of student projects submissions.

Interactive teamwork, critical reading and writing, communication skills, negotiation, presentations are some of the vital soft skills for today’s academic and future work environment. Traditionally, ESP involves a lecture mode where academic literacies and skills such as reading comprehension, writing, and vocabulary are practised. This paper discusses and analyses qualitative and quantitative results from the introduction of an e-methodology in two university departments for teaching/learning ESP in the framework of discipline-related, CBI and project work which enhances and modernizes teaching and learning ESP and develops new study habits for l...
