In the situation of transferring most industries and services to remote work, the problems of an existential choice in citizens' perception of quarantine restrictions and the need to ensure their own economic and physiological survival in a severe socioeconomic crisis in Ukraine and military aggression by Russia appeared in 2014. In this context, it remains relevant to define how medical and religious organizations should help Ukrainian citizens adapt to the existential and social challenges provoked by the COVID-19 pandemic. The peculiarities of Ukrainians' perception of the premature death threat, the growing sense of helplessness, and the impact of fatalities provoked by COVID-19 are exacerbated in the modern Ukrainian society by the post-traumatic syndrome of the Holodomor of 1932-1933, the Chernobyl disaster, annexation of the Crimea and military aggression by Russia. The conclusions of the article outline the similarities with global trends in Ukrainians' perception of COVID-19 (confusion, panic and suicidal moods) and features of the national perception of the existential threat: critical attitude of Ukrainians to public medicine, focus on self-medication, mostly positive attitude of an individual to doctors, confidence of the citizens of Ukraine that only the rich will receive proper care and vaccination, etc. The article also analyzes the role of religious organizations in the process of adaptation of Ukrainian society to the existential challenges of today in the field of palliative care and psychological support of victims of hostilities, including the adaptation of citizens to live in quarantine and a post-pandemic environment.

The purpose of the article is the analysis of intentional acts and weakness of will manifestations in the context of the six provisions of classical rationality criticism in John Searle's theory of social action. Intentional acts that are realized within the process of cognition, beliefs and desires formation, in John Searle's interpretation can be both rational and irrational. The philosopher identifies three key forms of intentional gaps: in the process of developing a rational plan of activities and the formation of prior intention, in the transition from prior intention to activity, in a willful effort to carry out specific activities. If there are not enough rational rules and norms to overcome the intentional gaps, one, on the basis of free will, has to determine, which of the foundations should be used to obtain the optimal solution. Any situation of choice is interpreted by the thinker as initially non-rational or irrational. Instead, to make a rationally motivated choice, a person has to activate his own will in order to choose the most optimal solution from all possible options. It is stated in the article that rationality is not always the result of following a certain system of rules and regulations. It can also be assimilated on an unconscious irrational level, such as while unconscious, often spontaneous, assimilation of the native language. Instead, in a situation of learning a foreign language and mastering understood grammatical and stylistic rules, a person uses rationally motivated volitional efforts. The key conclusions of the article are realized in the position that intentional gaps are capable of producing weakness of will (akrasia). The weakness of will, according to American philosopher, arises if there are several attractive alternative activities available. It is not only a universal natural form of irrationality, but also a particular existential and social phenomenon that always accompanies human existence. It is stated in the article that a person arbitrarily shows weakness of will. This happens when a person consciously ignores the activity, even when there are quite sufficient, rationally justified, grounds for activity manifestation. In such a sense, the promise in John Searle's interpretation is treated as one of the key means of overcoming intentional gaps, which are the basis for identifying the weakness of will in the social environment.

We have proposed to analyze such situations using the principle of “incomplete comprehension of object”, and we carried out a consideration of its content and indicated its methodological role. To our mind, one of the most important features of this principle is the focus on a set of ambiguous, non-obvious links between the internal elements of an object, as well as during its interactions with agents of external influence in a situation of uncertainty. Besides, we examined its heuristic and predictive capabilities using examples of analy...

The analysis of the role of the Internet memes, created by means of the popular artistic images modification in the modern digital culture is made. Such methods as semiotic and hermeneutic analysis of the Internet memes are used in the research work. The authors seek to explore the reasons for the popularity of memes in the processes of symbolic production and exchange in contemporary society and the modern digital culture, which is the purpose of this study. We consider that Internet meme created by using and modifying artistic images is a new phenomenon in human public life and new type of communication. As a hypothesis, a distinctive feature of the Internet meme is the surprise and laughter it causes in the “man of the Internet”. The main result of this article is the analysis the role of Internet memes in the newest information space and...
