Though the duty of maintaining oral hygiene practice relies on the patient, there are instances where the technique sensitive nature of restorative procedures or the faulty restorative margins may inadvertently lead to conditions which could bring about periodontal disease/destruction.

“oor ONDE IEE Abnormal occlusal relationship caused due to high points in restorations increase the risk of periodontal disease’. It has also been reported that teeth with occlusal discrepancies presented with deeper pocket depths and worse prognosis than those who did not have occlusal discrepancies. In addition, when followed over time, there was a significant increase in probing depths in teeth with occlusal discrepancies, and when left untreated, were associated with progression of periodontal disease. Furthermore, occlusal treatment seems to reduce the progression of periodontal disease over time. There is some evidence of association between trauma from occlusion and periodontal disease, but none proves a cause and effect relationship. In a study involving 15 patients with pre-existing interproximal restorations, the plaque index, gingival index and periodontal probing depth were recorded. Before the old restoration was removed, all indexes were noted and base line radiographs were taken. Standard oral hygiene instructions were given. The overhanging restorations were either removed or replaced with a new restoration, or the overhang was removed, with a rubber cup polish done to ensure smoothness of surfaces. Patients were recalled after the 1“ week and 4" week. The results revealed that the plaque and gingival indexes had shown a 5 fold reduction in the first week and further dropped by half in the fourth week. The probing pocket depth had also shown improvements over the first and fourth week.GCF volume collected showed a dramatic decrease by the first and fourth week’.

Additive manufacturing technologies offer a number of advantages over the subtractive technologies: Firstly, the objects with complex geometry can be produced, without need of any complex machinery setup thus reducing cost; Secondly, the method of production is easy and relatively quick. Lastly, the objects can be made of the same or different materials. 3-D printers are becoming more affordable in terms of the cost of running, materials, maintenance, and the need for skilled operators. This article will help us understand the role of robocasting in dental restoration production and how it can evolve to overcome the challenges associated with the production of such restorations

Overdenture is a good and economical treatment modality in means of preservation, retention and stability of prosthesis and thereby increase the patient's quality of life. This case report will help us understand the role and benefits of tooth support in overdentures even after the advent of dental implants.

The quality, quantity and the volume of available bone at the planned implant site has to be assessed properly when planning a dental implant placement. When we speak of the fore-mentioned aspects pre-surgical imaging and its co-relation to clinical findings help assess the relation to the amount of bone available from underlying vital parts namely the sinus cavities, nasal floor, nerves, teeth and vessels. Different radiographic modalities have been advocated for its assessment. Intra Oral Peri-apical radiograph (two-dimensional) is one such modality that has lost its importance after the introduction of more advanced techniques like Cone Beam Tomography (three-dimensional). This article will help us understand how two-dimensional and three-dimensional imaging modalities go hand in hand while treating dental patients. It will also explain why the convention...
