Though the universities have units that occasionally visit some lecture venues to check whether lectures hold as scheduled or not, the policing officers cannot practically verify that all the lectures scheduled per day in every department of the university had held. This paper presents the Lecture Evaluation and Monitoring System (LEMS), a system that uses Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD) and internet technology to help the university's Quality Assurance and Productivity Unit (QAP) unit to monitor lecture attendances in real time without having to roam the campus. The system also provides statistical summary of the attendance inputs for each lecturer, departments and schools lecture attendance inputs for a given semester.

The WordNet serves as a medium of enhancing the current e-examination system in which machines can process, interpret, and evaluate information for enhance knowledge retrieval. The approach adopted is hypothesized to solve the semantic mismatch issues in subjective eexamination. An algorithm that explores the synset structure of WordNet database and which gives meaning of any term based on the available synonyms is proposed. The framework is implemented using Java programming language and a prototype of the proposed system is tested and compared with the existing system. Results show that words that are synonymous to any given correct answer are equally recognize as correct option. Hence, the e-examination system reliability, performance and assessment of depth of knowledge of students have been greatly increased.

The cost of adequately equipping laboratories with required laboratory equipment has been found t... more The cost of adequately equipping laboratories with required laboratory equipment has been found to be prohibitively expensive. This has made teaching of practical oriented courses very challenging in educational institutions. Virtualization is a technology that can create the impression of having dedicated hardware resources in place of physical laboratory equipment thereby reducing this prohibitive cost. In this paper, the development of a virtual laboratory using software defined networking approach is presented. The developed system was tested using a network penetration testing laboratory session. The results derived show that the virtual laboratory has the potential of enhancing learning in practical oriented courses because of the ease of conducting practical sessions and the elimination of procurement cost of laboratory equipments. One of the most challenging is Coronavirus Infection (Covid-19). Models have been proposed to detect and diagnose early infection of the virus to attain proper precautions against the Covid-19 virus. However, some researchers adopt parameter optimization to attain better accuracy on the Chest X-ray images of covid-19 and other related diseases. Hence, this research work adopts a hybridized cascaded feature extraction technique (Local Binary Pattern LBP and Histogram of Oriented Gradients HOG) and Convolutional Neural Network (CNN) for the deep learning classification model. The merging of LBP and HOG feature extraction significantly improved the performance level of the deep-learning CNN classifier. As a result, 95% accuracy, 92% precision, and 93% recall are attained by the proposed model.

Unlike the use of Rivest, Shamir and Adleman (RSA) algorithm that is commonly used in many computing devices to enforce the confidentiality of information, this research uses ECC, thereby reducing memory space complexity and computation power. Also, freed-up memory space is used to add other security measures in the form of iris and voice biometric to effect authentication. The mathematical expression of ECC was modified to reflect the encryption and decryption of image (iris) and audio (voice) data types integrated in the modeled secured electronic commerce system. Performance evaluation were carried out after implementation and results show a system that is promising by completing the processing of new user registration and logging in within 90 se...

Medical information nowadays are optimized towards serving different areas such as; diagnosing of diseases, planning and administration, treatment and monitoring of patient outcomes, services and costs. This article provides a review into various Health and Social Care systems which encompasses the Knowledge Management value. For analysis, more than 30 systems that are related to Health and Social Care were gathered via Internet research, only 20 of these systems were finally selected based on recent system development and popularity of the system.

The abolition of pass grade for any degree course and the consequent change in cumulative grade p... more The abolition of pass grade for any degree course and the consequent change in cumulative grade point for any student to remain within an academic system at University level in Nigeria has led to withdrawal of many students. Thus, it becomes imperative for academic institutions managements to ensure that all necessary steps are taken to enable student graduate successfully. This study explores the usefulness of data mining in unravelling hidden knowledge in students’ academic record, particularly the students’ specific characteristics which managements or decision makers can leverage upon to ensure improvement in academic success rate of the students. In addition, the study provides a guide through which predicting algorithms can be used by senior academics to predict the performances of students in their respective classes. The conclusion of the study advocates for the use of data mining as decision making tool in academic institutions. General Terms Data Mining, Algorithms

Besides, the volume and varieties of these data in various repositories across the global space is on one hand a heartwarming development and on the other hand, gradually becoming a challenge in terms of relevant information retrieval as a result of ambiguities in natural languages. Accessing knowledge in respect to soils and fertilizers that can affects maize crop during planting stage is very significant in order to improve and maintain the crop’s maximum yields. In lieu of this, a cutting-edge technology that is promising towards mitigating this challenge of retrieving relevant information is by modeling data ontologically. Ontology is a data modeling technique for knowledge representation in a machine understandable format. Therefore, this paper aims to model an OWL-based ontology for soils and fertilization knowledge that can assist in ...

The provision of stable electricity supply remains the backbone of economic, social, and politica... more The provision of stable electricity supply remains the backbone of economic, social, and political developments of any nation, especially in the current digital-driven economy. In recent years, the Nigerian Electricity Supply Industry (NESI) has been struggling to achieve a productivity factor of 0.29, which is far below the international standard of 0.80. This abysmal achievement is far contrary to the huge financial commitments and socio-technical driven policies that have been formulated by successive governments to address continuous electricity grid collapse for over four decades. In order to address this endemic and epileptic electric supply, previous research efforts were directed to studying the individual components of NESI or policy formulations amongst others. To the best of our knowledge, research to holistically investigate all the components, their interactions and the effects of formulated policies on NESI operational efficiency is yet to be undertaken. Thus, this pap...
