With the help of the PEST-analysis, most of the important factors of the external environment could be identified. Thus, the application of the PEST-analysis for studying weak structured systems means to determine adequate for a given organisation external factors and measures for exerting an active influence on them.

Bibliometrics laws and models are seen as a way of redefining and widening of the role of the library. The news applications of bibliometrics in library practice is motivated by ambitions to provide more complete services in public libraries, as well as to increase the visibility and status of libraries, not the least in relation to good management. The usage of Bibliometrics in public libraries is also seen as a way of widening of the professional profile of librarianship. The new applications should, however, also be considered from the viewpoint of potential changes in how libraries are perceived when using a monitoring function through bibliometric analyses of research performance in addition to traditional service oriented functions. © 2012 The Authors. The six stages of benchmarking are outlined as well as its key elements. Some practices that have been used thus far are analyzed and competitive espionage is presented in detail. Benchmarking is not aimed at ranking, but rather at identification and dissemination of best practices.

The scientific productivity of lead-acid batteries-related research among researchers, countries,... more The scientific productivity of lead-acid batteries-related research among researchers, countries, institutions, journals, and subject area's was investigated by a bibliometric analysis of lead-acid batteries research from 1980 to 2014. The search includes the Web of Knowledge and SCOPUS databases with the word lead-acid batteries in the title. From Web of Knowledge 2102 documents were obtained, whereas a total of 4685 documents were obtained from SCOPUS. More than 58 % of the documents are research articles, mostly (more than 92%) written in English, about 20 % produced in the United States and 20% produced by Chinese researchers. The study reveals the most productive institutions and authors. Most prolific author is Detchko Pavlov from Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, who account for 1 % of the published articles. Journal of Power Sources is the main journal most used for leadacid batteries research publications (more than 32% in WoS and more than 20% in SCOPUS). According to this results it can be concluded that there is an important gap identified between developed and developing countries in the volume of scientific papers. About the 30% of the papers have been published by the 10 most developed countries excluded Taiwan.

Popoff consists of 184 publications in the different fields of biology, medicine, citology. He has the contributions to the development of th microbiology and the seroiogy. 40 years of his activity he has devoted to the study of the simulation of the vital processes. The citation of the publications of ML Popoff in the period 1964-1998 is shown. The influence of his works for the development of the biology and medicine is analyzed.
