The rice is a major crop with economical and social importance in many countries. The production ... more The rice is a major crop with economical and social importance in many countries. The production systems of this crop promote changes in the properties of the grains. The aim of this work was to characterize the grains of two rice cultivars recommended for the ecosystems: lowland and upland. Hulled rice was used, from the long and thin category, from the lowland BR IRGA 409 cultivar, and, upland BRS Primavera cultivar. Moisture contents of grains was 9,6 (% u.b.), then were determined the sphericity, circularity, apparent and unit specific mass, porosity rest angle, thermal conductivity, specific heat, thermal diffusivity, terminal velocity. The cultivars presented different values for sphericity and rest angle, but did not differ in apparent specific mass, unit specific mass, porosity and thousand grain weight, as well as in the thermal properties and terminal velocity.

OBSERVATÓRIO DE LA ECONOMÍA LATINOAMERICANA

A extensão universitária é uma das principais ferramentas de conexão do conhecimento científico c... more A extensão universitária é uma das principais ferramentas de conexão do conhecimento científico com a sociedade em geral. No entanto, algumas práticas tiveram que ser reinventadas, devido a situação de pandemia instaurada no país, migrando para o sistema de Ensino Remoto Emergencial (ERE). Modelos de produção animal com elevado índice de bem-estar é fundamental para garantir uma produtividade elevada e com boa qualidade, no entanto, é fundamental a disseminação dessas práticas, tanto para a comunidade acadêmica, quanto para o público geral. Portanto, foi desenvolvido um evento online composto por três palestras com o intuito de compartilhar informações adequadas sobre o tema. Contudo, o modelo virtual favoreceu a participação de pessoas de diferentes estados e áreas de atuação, além de ter tido uma boa avaliação em geral dos inscritos.

Being peculiar for its unique chemical and nutritional characteristics, sesame (Sesamum indicum L... more Being peculiar for its unique chemical and nutritional characteristics, sesame (Sesamum indicum L.) is a good option for farmers. It is used as human food, animal feed and has great potential for the production of bio diesel. Despite these potentials, studies on ideal maturity stage for harvesting and physiological quality of sesame seeds in different parts of the plant are rare and also there is insufficient information on it. In this context, this study aims to evaluate the physiological quality of sesame seeds harvested at different maturity stages and plant positions. It employs complete randomized design consisting of factorial scheme 2 × 3 × 3, with four replications. Treatments are composed of two beige and black sesame seed cultivars, harvested at three maturity stages (50, 70 and 90%) and in three parts of the plant (superior, medial and inferior). Os graos de abobora podem ser utilizados na forma in natura ou processados para o aproveitamento ... more Os graos de abobora podem ser utilizados na forma in natura ou processados para o aproveitamento do seu oleo. Perante a importância da formacao de estoque para sua adequada utilizacao, o conhecimento energetico associado a produtos higroscopicos durante seu processamento e armazenamento e estrategico para a otimizacao de processos envolvidos nestas etapas. Dessa forma, o presente trabalho objetivou a determinacao do calor isosterico ou entalpia, da entropia diferencial e da energia livre de Gibbs. Como resultados dos estudos foi possivel verificar que o calor isosterico integral variou 6231,17 a 2502,35 kJ kg-1, para os intervalos de umidade relativa do ar de 10,75 a 85,11% e temperaturas de 20 a 70°C, sendo a espontaneidade do processo diretamente proporcional ao teor de agua.

O presente trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de desenvolver uma tecnica de reumedecimento par... more O presente trabalho foi realizado com o objetivo de desenvolver uma tecnica de reumedecimento para graos usando ar frio e umido por meio de um umidificador de ar, bem como comparar a tecnica proposta com o metodo descrito por Vasconcelos, que e realizado por aspersao de agua diretamente sobre a massa de graos. Foram utilizados graos de milho e soja adquiridos no comercio de Goiânia. Os graos foram secos em estufa a 45±3°C e pesados a cada 20 minutos ate atingirem teor de agua proximo a 8% b.u. Posteriormente, os graos foram submetidos ao processo de reumedecimento pelos dois metodos em estudo, com tres repeticoes para cada metodo, ate atingirem teor de agua de 14% b.u. Os resultados dos teores de agua e do tempo necessario para a realizacao dos processos de reumedecimento foram analisados estatisticamente pelo teste de hipotese “t” a 5% de probabilidade. Merrill) is one of the economic activities that have contributed most. However, in order to increase or maintain the efficiency of the oilseed, it is necessary to increase the knowledge in the post-harvest techniques that are applied to the seeds to maintain their quality. This study aimed at evaluation of the physiological quality and the drying uniformity of soybean seeds in a commercial fixed-bed dryer of the brand Granfinale and industrial ventilator of the brand AeroMack with the radial distribution of air. Samples were collected at 4 vertical heights: 0.20, 1.40, 2.60 and 3.80 meters at the dryer base combined with 4 radial distances of 0.15, 0.30, 0.45 and 0.60 meters and central duct, through a 4x4 random factorial scheme.
