Majority of machining applications uses induction motors, single phase motors for light duty application and three phase motor for heavy duty application. The need for the industry is to run the motors failure free so that the production capacity is meet out. To achieve this, motor components has to perform trouble free operations, but in a due course of time when the motors are made to run for a longer period of time, it develops wear among the parts. When considering the faulty parts bearing wear is one major issue. Due to this the motor also gets damaged, if this happens the entire motor has to be repaired or replaced. Many fault detections methods and techniques have been implemented; different methods of bearing fault identification are being conducted. Here a detailed review about bearing fault analysis and its recent developments are described in this paper.

The good maintainability of the bearing is one of the successful productivity balancing strategies. In this work made an attempt to diagnose the fault detection of bearings under the static condition; an effective bearing fault diagnostic technique is critically needed for the industries for early detection of bearing defects. Preventing breakdown/malfunction of machinery reduces the performance of the machine and productivity. The most used rotating element is the ball bearing in the industry 62xx series, in this work the ball bearing HCH 6201-2RS is considered for evaluation for inner race defect and outer race defects. An indigenous workbench was developed and validated it with the new and good working bearings. The amplitude and power spectrum wave formation was observed and recorded with the help of Lab View; a standard wave format of both go...

This paper reports the computed power spectrum from vibration signal clearly identifies the fault signature with its raise in amplitude. Hence, in an impulse excitation technique vibration analysis with computed power spectrum provides an efficient monitoring of fault in axle bearings in a short timing. Programmable System on Chip (PSoC) creator design and Virtual Instrument program written in LabVIEW, a graphical language, provides efficient implementation of impulse excitation technique possible in static test method in a minimal time.
