Therefore, an experiment was set up during two seasons (2003 and 2004)

In future work they are considering the extension of the concept to two dimensions in order to extract wave direction and spatial

The diagnosis is usually a difficult one and treatment should be stringent in order to minimize the chance of delayed healing or pseudoarthrosis. Ten year-old child with a carpal scaphoid fracture visible in the plain films. The patient did not comply with treatment and removed the cast at three weeks. Despite this healing occurred without any clinical sequelae. This case is especially infrequent given the excellent result obtained despite the fact that the immobilization period was considerably shorter than the minimum recommended.

Target identification is one of the most critical steps following cell-based phenotypic chemical ... more Target identification is one of the most critical steps following cell-based phenotypic chemical screens aimed at identifying compounds with potential uses in cell biology and for developing novel disease therapies. Current in silico target identification methods, including chemical similarity database searches, are limited to single or sequential ligand analysis that have limited capabilities for accurate deconvolution of a large number of compounds with diverse chemical structures. Here, we present CSNAP (Chemical Similarity Network Analysis Pulldown), a new computational target identification method that utilizes chemical similarity networks for large-scale chemotype (consensus chemical pattern) recognition and drug target profiling. Our benchmark study showed that CSNAP can achieve an overall higher accuracy (>80%) of target prediction with respect to representative chemotypes in large (>200) compound sets, in comparison to the SEA approach (60-70%). Additionally, CSNAP is...

Due to its infrequency and to the nonspecificity of its clinical manifestations, they are usually difficult to diagnose. Material and methods: We present a case of a 24 year old male who suffered an isolated comminuted fracture of the body of the hamate bone. It was treated conservatively and full recovery without any functional deficit was obtained. Conclusions: It is important to consider this type of fracture when confronted with a direct traumatism to the hand. Performing computed tomography (CT) is recommended in order to correctly identify the fracture and assess any possible associated lesions. The therapeutic decision depends on the degree of comminution of the fracture, its stability and any joint involvement.

Currently, various side-emitting optical fibers with different tip geometry are used transurethrally to deliver laser radiation for treatment of benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Since fiber tip design could profoundly affect the size and profile of the emitted laser beam, and consequently the tissue response and the extent of tissue coagulation, we evaluated commercially available fibers in regard to their optical characteristics and their ability to coagulate tissue in a controlled experimental setting.

Samples were collected before and after each half of the shift at the beginning and end of the working week. The styrene concentration in venous blood and in urine and the urinary mandelic acid were correlated with the mean-weighted environmental concentration of styrene, measured in the breathing zone by means of passive personal samplers. The results indicate that the urinary styrene concentration can be used as a biological index of exposure to styrene. This parameter could be considered complementary to measurements of mandelic acid in urine, styrene in mixed-exhaled air, phenylglyoxylic acid in urine, and styrene in blood.
