Background Forced migration (refugee) has been considered one of the most persistent global issue... more Background Forced migration (refugee) has been considered one of the most persistent global issues. Braithwaite, Salehyan, and Savun estimated that about 68 million people have been displaced from their homes (5). The number includes both internally displaced and international refugees. Kira et al. on the contrary estimate that up to 80 million people are either refugee or were internally displaced. The number of designated refugees however was estimated at approximately 26.3 million while 45.7 million were considered internally displaced (Kira et al.). The refugees are faced with struggles of rebuilding their livelihood after traumatic experiences (Braithwaite, Salehyan, and Savun 5). Moreover, the refugee flows have implications for international security, global economy, and domestic politics in both host and home countries (Ram et al. 1). Evidence suggests that the majority of the refugees are concentrated in the Global South while a significant minority seek asylum in the advanced capitalist nations such as North America and Europe (Ram et al. 1). The above presents a humanitarian situation that requires constant monitoring and evaluation. United States of America (USA) has been home to many refugees.
