This work focused on investigating whether quercetin from a dietary supplement can be used as an ... more This work focused on investigating whether quercetin from a dietary supplement can be used as an efficient reducing and stabilizing agent to obtain suitable silver nanoparticles (AgNPs) through a green synthesis. Antibacterial activity was tested against S. aureus, E. coli, and P. mirabilis for finding high inhibition values using this new route, even more significant than the values reported in current literature. Results stated that it is possible to synthesize spherical AgNPs with excellent stability and antimicrobial activity using a dietary supplement (low purity 20%). The success of this filing is due to the significant solubility provided by the other ingredients present in the dietary supplement.

Este documento presenta la estimación de las propiedades resistencia a la fluencia, Sy, y resiste... more Este documento presenta la estimación de las propiedades resistencia a la fluencia, Sy, y resistencia última, Su, en aceros laminados AISI 1045 y AISI 4140 mediante la técnica de Small Punch. Los resultados en el acero 1045 comparados con los obtenidos por norma convencional presentaron errores de 7 y 10 por ciento, y para el 4140, errores de 16 y 5 por ciento. También se analizaron cada una de las orientaciones que se pueden obtener para la técnica Small Punch. Para el acero 1045 los resultados fueron muy similares sin importar su orientación. The objective of this research is optimizate tensile stress of injection molded parts of polyamid... more The objective of this research is optimizate tensile stress of injection molded parts of polyamid-6 to establish process conditions that maximize tensile strength of parts in a real industrial process. The methodology consisted in development of essays based on I-optimal experimental design in order to get a data base. During experimentation four parameters were considered as inputs: injection holding pressure, injection time holding, % wt virgin material and % wt recycled material. Measurement of máximum tensile stress in parts was made according to ISO 527-1 standard. Three models were developed by the techniques Response Surface Metodology, Back Propagation Neural Network and Generalized Regression Neural Network (with Radial Basis Function) to predict parts máximum tensile stress. Finally, the best model (lowest forecasting error) was optimized by Trust Region Method Based on Interior Point Techniques for Nonlinear Programming to maximize tensile strength. This article presents a novel methodology to describe relative humidity in clothes drying machine... more This article presents a novel methodology to describe relative humidity in clothes drying machines (CDM). This methodology is carried out by implementing a pattern detection algorithm, with this it is possible to predict humidity levels in ranges where a conventional sensor is not able to give a reliable measurement. By obtaining reliable humidity levels, it is possible to reduce the drying cycles and thus obtain an energy saving as well as making a more efficient drying, avoiding damaging the clothes by over drying them, or leaving them still wet. It is necessary to obtain a relation between the relative humidity (which is the one found in the environment) as well as the humidity that is found in the tissue of the clothes (that is, the amount of water impregnated clothes have) to obtain more favorable results in drying. This relationship is important since the variable that really matters is monitoring the humidity that is in the clothes and not in the environment. This last one is the one usually measured by the sensors. Finally, materials, tools and platforms used for the development of the algorithm are presented, as well as simulated tests where the efficiency of the algorithm for the prediction of humidity in the dryers is demonstrated. The objective of this article is to describe the behavior of moisture within CDM, in low humidity ranges, by means of a pattern detection algorithm. This will favor the reduction in times and the energy saving during the drying cycles.
Actualmente los polimeros son materiales altamente utilizados en la industria para la fabricacion... more Actualmente los polimeros son materiales altamente utilizados en la industria para la fabricacion de un gran numero de productos para el embalaje, y resulta dificil prescindir de la utilizacion de dichos materiales. Sin embargo, constituyen una parte importante dentro de los desechos que contaminan nuestro planeta todos los dias, por esta razon, en este proyecto se propone el uso del polipropileno reciclado (rPP), un material ductil que puede ser reutilizado en procesos de manufactura. Se analizo estructuralmente un embalaje de polipropileno 100% reciclable el cual se usara para el transporte de productos perecederos como son los champinones, mediante metodo de elemento finito (MEF), con el fin de sustituir el embalaje de carton empleado en la actualidad. Se requiere que soporte un total de 15 cajas por estiba, para mejorar la logistica del transporte del producto. The Hoist Scheduling Problem is combinatory, so tools such as mathematical programming need to be... more The Hoist Scheduling Problem is combinatory, so tools such as mathematical programming need to be used to get the sequence of movements, respecting the constraints of the process by minimizing the cycle time. A sequence in which the order of movements follows the order of the process is known as the basic diagram. These schedules do not have any clearance for the hoist to make any other movements, resulting in a loss in productivity. This chapter takes the production line of a Mexican factory as a case study, analyzing the hoist's travelling speed to find sequences of movements that could improve productivity. The results of the study indicate that the cycle time has a nonlinear behavior in respect of the hoist's travelling speed and it was determined that there are travelling speeds for which sequences are obtained with enough clearance to make other movements and keep other carriers on the line. A suitable speed was estimated in the case.
