We analyze whether the reforms of undergraduate education in these countries are moving in the direction of global convergence or divergence based on the respective contexts of each country’s society and higher education system. We explore whether changes are based on intrinsic values and directions inherent to universities and higher education arising from their education and research activities, or extrinsic values and directions demanded by society and industry, such as human resource development and industrial innovation. Our findings show that no single direction can be argued to be a “global trend.” This implies that each country and university should carefully examine and identify the global landscape and the most relev...

The sample of the study was 200 male and female students. The two appropriate scales of attitudes about drug use and conformity were administered The data was then analyzed using t-test, ANOVA, and Pearson's correlation coefficient. The results show no relationship between attitudes about drug use and conformity, and no significant difference in attitudes about drug use and conformity among most variables except a significant difference in conformity between male and female students . There was a. significant difference in attitudes about drug use between urban and rural students, and between the levels of study . They contribute to economic prosperity as well as to social and individual wellbeing and are essential factors for a more competitive and dynamic community. Education is seen as central in fostering creative and innovative skills. Creativity is a form of knowledge creation; therefore stimulating creativity has positive effects for learning. Thus, educational actors should have the power to unlock the creative and innovative potential of the young. Creative learning is therefore any learning which involves understanding and new awareness, which allows the learner to go beyond notional acquisition, and focuses on thinking skills. It is based on learner empowerment and centredness. Innovation is the application of such a process or product in order to benefit a domain or field – in this case, teaching. Therefore, innovative teaching is the process leading to ...

The histochemical observation revealed marked reduction in glycogen contents and total protein contents of the liver cells as compared with the control fish. These changes were time- dependent.

HEIs are guardians of the history, values and traditions that they reside within and represent. Effat University – established in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia – is a successful case in point presents a female HEI that is working continuously on being agile, while striking the balance between innovation and change within a tight framework of solid traditional values to ensure higher quality performance and valued organizational outcomes. This case study is presented in four sections. First, the conceptual framework supporting the case study is outlined. Then, description of Effat University IQRA-Based Quality Model follows. Then, the application of Effat University IQRA-Based Quality Model on Effat College of Engineering as a case study is elaborated. Summary and conclusions ensue.

Very little has been written about these people. Moreover, most of what has been said about them was written by Western academics, historians, or politicians. As such, very important Hadhrami characteristics were missing from those writings. This chapter focuses on some of those characteristics. Most interestingly, it draws, in the authors' view, important conclusions of their implications for the success that many Hadhramis were able to achieve in business in some of the countries to which they migrated. The chapter takes a historical perspective by relying on secondary literature to record stories of Hadhrami commercial achievements as well as a small case study involving three highly successful Saudi businessmen of Hadhrami origin.
