As a result, there is the need to generate knowledge from information that can guide practice, and in that aspect, decision support systems (DSSs) can contribute to achieving this goal. A DSS can be defined as a computer-based information system that is used to support complex decision-making. The aim of this paper is to present such a DSS focused on the agricultural sector. Its purpose is to be used for the planning of agricultural production and better utilization of a region's available resources. The development of the DSS relies on the classic theory of such tools utilizing MCDM models, databases, and a user interfaces. The proposed DSS was applied in the prefecture of Larissa in Central Greece. The DSS is adaptable to different contexts, and applications of these capabilities are presented at the end of the paper, applied in different regions under additional objectives and/or constraints.

The aim of this paper is the evaluation of a LEADER+ local operational program, in particular concerning the ex-post evaluation and the consistency between planned targets and weighted implemented actions. The local operational program includes eight targets and 34 actions. The paper evaluates the local operational program by using the PROMETHEE II multicriteria analysis method. The data used concern the budgets per action and regard the year of planning and the year of the ex-post evaluation of the program. The analysis focuses on the ex-post evaluation of the local program and suggests how it could best be planned and designed to serve the strategic and operational needs of decision-makers. It also provides guidance for other evaluations carried out at program level and is helpful for further evaluations at local level.

Greece, which hosts thousands of new immigrants, could seize the private sector’s experience to offer effective and holistic labor market integration opportunities to its migrant labor force. This paper explored the challenge for Greece as examined using a system dynamics methodology of the effects of wage subsidies and vocational training products on the employability of both the native and migrant populations in a framework of public–private cooperation under different scenarios and external factors.

Proceedings of the 27th International Scientific Conference Strategic Management and Decision Support Systems in Strategic Management

Two terms that have gained traction in the academia and policy making are Digital Transformation ... more Two terms that have gained traction in the academia and policy making are Digital Transformation and Sustainable Development of public and private organizations. Digital transformation can be defined as the increasing application of digitization and automation that has important impacts on the structure of business ecosystems and their products and services. The core of Digital Transformation is the overall digitization and cross-linking of the value creation process. On the other hand, Sustainable Development has been defined as “the ability to meet the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs” (Brundtland, et al., 1987). As it can be observed, the two terms are defined in a vague way, however, their practical importance cannot be overstated. Despite the lack of a unified definition and methodological framework on how to define them, public and private organizations are making efforts to incorporate them in their practices....

The researchers collected data from people of all ages in the countries of Italy, Romania, Greece, Hungary, Serbia, Bulgaria, and a number of experts from other countries as well. Data were analysed and studied through the use of descriptive statistics and correlation analysis. The findings suggest that racist incidences in football are very frequent. Furthermore, it was observed that social-demographic variables seem to affect people’s propensity to racism and usually the respondents believe that racist acts are performed mainly due to lack of education, out of fear and due to general social unrest. Finally, a thorough discussion and conclusions are given for the improvement of regulations at a European level to tackle the incidents of racism abuse in the sphere of soccer.

Its target is to promote the importance of sustainability on the everyday problems of the cities among the students of higher education, which are the policy makers of tomorrow and the ones that will shape the future. In order to achieve its goals, the research team will develop a course that will be based on an interactive game with an analytical style of education. This game will allow students to learn about transportation sustainability and societal metabolism through playing. In addition, the research team will develop small and illustrative simulation models, which will make the definitions more concrete and allow students to experiment in a consequence-free environment. It is a quite innovative and hybrid perspective way of learning, in the sense that it will combine game-based learning with a cognitive and analytical style of education.

Forty-seven required attributes of a PM were prioritised through a structured questionnaire survey. These attributes were assigned to groups with the aid of the 'big five personality traits' and identified as selection criteria. Simos method was implemented to determine the weights of the criteria. Seven classifications were proposed, including: 'conscientiousness', 'cognitive abilities', 'extraversion', 'agreeableness', 'capabilities', 'openness' and 'other qualifications'. The 'conscientiousness' personality trait received most of the identified attributes. Seven hypothetical PM profiles were created that directly corresponded to each of the proposed Conscientiousness personality trait defines the competent Greek PM 351 classifications. Strategic site selection issues are typically complex problems that require consideration of multiple alternatives (sites), multiple criteria and multiple decision-makers with conflicting interests, preferences and desires. In this perspective we propose a new decision making framework based on three areas of high importance: multi-agent systems, geographic information system and multiple-criteria decision analysis. These three tools are combined in a manner so that the shortcoming of one tool is complemented by the strength of the others. To assist the decision makers in selecting the compromise alternative from a number of feasible alternatives, the proposed decision support system will be enriched with a protocol of negotiation based on argumentation approach, which allows agents (decision makers) to exchange complex justification positions rather than just simple proposals, this property of argumentation protocols can lead to faster and beneficial agreements to the group.
