To do so, is designed a model more integrated as possible in a specific urban reality with benefits and same construction characteristics, except those bound by its situation, so that they can be compared according to the theory of the global cost in construction area. So, has been implemented the model designed in two situations, underground and above ground, and studied and compared the costs of investment, exploitation, demolition and recycling, as well as a first assessment evaluation of the resources needed for the implementation of the same ones, with a 50-year life cycle.

In the case of Europe, the existing building stock was mainly built before any energy standard and without considering global warming. This research presents a study of the adaptive comfort model EN 15251:2007, to provide guidance for comfort in existing buildings in the context of climate change. The case study is a residential block built in 1978 in Seville, Spain. The analyses consider the currently used patterns, as well as their spatial and construction characteristics. The data measured onsite are calibrated with dynamic simulation for current and future scenarios. The potential application of adaptive comfort model EN 15251:2007 is shown in this study for today, 2020, 2050 and 2080. The results show a progressive decrease of applicable and comfortable hours as the applicable and n...

Regarding Spain, most of the present building stock was built before energy standards were mandatory, let alone considerations about global warming or adaptive comfort. In this context, this research aims at assessing adaptive thermal comfort of inhabitants of extant apartments building in the South of Spain per EN 15251:2007 and ASHRAE 55-2013. The case study is statistically representative housing built in 1973. On-site monitoring of comfort conditions and computer simulations for present conditions have been carried out, clarifying the degree of adaptive comfort at present time. After that, additional simulations for 2020, 2050, and 2080 are performed to check whether this dwelling will be able to provide comfort considering a change in climate conditions. As a result, the study ...
