The velocity of mobile sinks is precisely determined which supports the aggregation of data from static sensors without the degradation of synchronization and scheduling. The mobility of sink is an approbation to improve the throughput, reduce delay, jitter, and also extend the lifetime of the network. The utilization of mobile sinks has mitigated the energy-hole problem. The performance metrics are compared and analyzed. The purpose of this research work is to find the precise number of mobile sinks and its exact velocity at which average delay is minimized, and the lifetime is prolonged along with gaining the assistance of researchers in this field.

The objective is to prolong the network lifetime and to reduce the end to end delay by mitigating the energy-hole problem and by eliminating bottlenecks significantly by using caucus based efficient synchronization techniques in multi-hop square grid topology of the wireless sensor networks (WSNs). The protocol self-reliantly and adaptively schedules node's wake-up times, decreases idle listening and collisions, increases network throughput, and extends network lifetime. It induces a low duty cycle for adjusting wake-up times of sensor nodes. The appropriate selection of active and sleep time slots and next hop relay nodes are proposed to minimize the data tr...

The security threats are continuously increasing due to the usage of wireless communication standards in WSNs deployed in smart grids. The development of novel security mechanisms is required to establish strong security infrastructure from smart grids to smart homes and vice versa. The flow of information and power in smart grids is bidirectional which is controlled with the help of software and supporting hardware. The security of operating systems and algorithms is of prime importance too. This paper elaborates the threats, challenges and countermeasures to prevent the attacks of hackers.

It is specially made for the purpose of control and sensor network and comprises of ZigBee Coordinator, router and end devices. It has low information rate, low power utilization and economical value, which are principle highlights of ZigBee. The network topology may include star, cluster tree or Mesh. The sensor nodes transferring data in the network is generally sent to the coordinator, the coordinator collects sensor information, stores the information in memory, process the data, and direct it to proper node. In this paper, this work is related to the impact of increase in ZigBee Coordinators on a 3D terrain in both static and mobile condition of sink node, to determine its optimum performance. The use of Archimedes' Spiral was introduced to mobility pattern to study its resultant simulation performance metrics.

Its favorable advantages and applications are the reason behind the growing interest in this field. Through this paper, the use of Archimedes Spiral was introduced to compare with static and random mobility conditions to prove that communication can be improved. Hence, batch experiments were conducted by varying routing protocols for three different scenarios with one spiral, three spirals, and five spirals for sink mobility. The main aim of simulations was at improving the efficiency of the data transmission in the network design by making the sink node mobile using Archimedes Spirals.

Though, these nodes are very tiny in size and thus are battery constrained and in most cases it is not feasible to replace it. Therefore energy consumption is a very important issue in wireless sensor network and hence, the network should be setup such that they can sustain for longer period and nodes can deploy energy efficiently. According to the requirement in the wireless sensor network, selection of right kind of protocol is also necessary as it can significantly affect the performance of the network. One of the requirements in setup of a wireless sensor network is its network area. This paper compares and analyses the performance of three protocols which are LEACH, SEP and ZSEP under the influence of varying network area. One of the attacks which affect the network is sinkhole attack. This paper mainly includes the optimization of data packets and data route for sinkhole attack using...

In a WSN with static sink, voluminous sensors transmit their sensed data to the sink node. The coordinators mutually present in the range of sensors and sink have to forward a number of packets, which cause rapid depletion of their battery. These coordinators become dead too early resulting in the breakage of the communication channel and formation of energy holes. However, to save energy with a static sink, the duty cycle should be short. A mobile sink is a better option than a static sink if the duty cycle is long, as it balances energy consumption among the sensors. It is well observed that the mobile sink is capable of acquiring homogeneous energy depletion leading to stretched li...

WSNs are capable of effectively monitoring the environmental parameters and any habitat necessary to be investigated. Sometimes, it is very important to periodically monitor the critical environmental parameters such as humidity, temperature, soil moisture, fire, volcanic eruptions, Tsunamis, seismic waves and many more to react proactively to save lives and assets. This research work is an endeavor to present the importance and to determine the precise inter- nodal distance required for distinct applications. The networks of the different terrain area and internodal distance are deployed to evaluate and analyze the performance metrics such as a number of messages received average end to end delay (secs), throughput (bps) and jitter (secs). The influence of varying inter-nodal distance on the performance of WSN is determined to select the most ap...

Analysis is done to investigate the performance of ZigBee in terms of throughput, packet delivery ratio, average delay and energy consumed in various three dimensional smart electric grid environments which includes an outdoor 500KV substation, an underground network transformer vaults and an indoor power control room. We are considering three dimensional sensor node deployments as more practical in the real world. From our simulation results it is seen that IEEE 802.15.4 based ZigBee is best suited for smart electric grid applications which are having less reliability requirements.
