The study used the mixed methods which involved the survey of 104 staff using questionnaires and an interview with the Regional ICT Coordinator of the NHIS in Accra. Also, the level of adoption in ICTs was not satisfactory as essential processes in the schemes administration were still being done manually. ICT usage in the schemes was not adequate and effective. The majority of the staff had basic-intermediate ICT skills; and trainings in ICTs for staff were not adequate. The study concluded that even though ICTs hold great potential for health insurance scheme administration, these benefits for now remains an illusion in Ghana’s NHIS se...

The study revealed that majority of respondents from the private schools used Whatsapp and Facebook more often. Also, respondents from the private schools spent more hours online as compared to counterparts in the public schools. The study was aimed at identifying social media network sites and their usage among students, how students networked and participated on social media networks, time invested by students on social networks, the effects of social media on students’ grammar and spelling as well as the effects of social network participation on the student’s academic performance within the context of the social learning and the use and gratification theories.
To achieve the objectives of the research, the study used a mixed method approach which involved the survey of students in four senior high schools and interviews of heads of the senior high schools. The study revealed that majority of respondents used Whatsapp and Facebook for making friends and chatting. In addition, majority of respondents experienced negative effects such as poor grammar and spelling, late submission of assignment, less study time and poor academic performance due to the heavy participation on social media networks. Furthermore, there was a high addiction rate among students in the usage of social media networks. Nevertheless, there were cases where others experienced improvement in their readings skills as a result of participation on social media networks. Also, respondents shared ideas, discussed and shared examination questions among themselves on social media networks.
The study recommended the strict enforcement of Ghana Education Service rule on electronic devices usage in schools, promotion of social media usage for academic purpose, counselling for addicted students and the use of the right grammar and spelling when participating on social networks.

Social media is a powerful new form of communication. The number of users on the popular social media sites is growing at exponential rates. Because of the ubiquity of social media use, academic libraries can leverage these communication tools to interact with faculty, staff, and students in new ways. It is often difficult in academic libraries to spread the word about different events or services that the library is offering. Social media provides another vein in which to market new library products or initiatives. This research study provides a brief review of recent statistics about the use of social media tools, highlights the importance of why academic libraries need to understand how Web 2.0 and social media applications can enhance information service delivery. The methodology included the survey of 30 librarians and e-resource librarians in Ghana, the analysis of 18 library websites and parent institution websites as well as the interview of two social media experts. The results of the study show that the percentage of Academic libraries using Web 2.0 and social media tools in Ghana is low. However, academic librarians in Ghana have a good knowledge of the common Web 2.0 and social media applications. Appropriate recommendations such as conscious efforts by librarians to use and training to use these tools are necessary to support their use and to ensure effective communication with the patrons in the academic library

Ghana. The study used the survey method and questionnaire as the data collection instrument from five polytechnic institutions in Ghana. The study revealed that the Polytechnic Libraries use one form of ICTs or the other. Also, some of the libraries provide ICT-based services. The challenge of funding, lack of ICT infrastructure, low bandwidth as well as misunderstanding between library staff and ICT department were identified. It was recommended that an ICT policy for the libraries to guide them in the acquisition and use of ICTS in their libraries be developed. Also, librarians in the Polytechnic Libraries should be trained in various technological applications and trends in information service and delivery to enhance the services they provide. Finally, the Polytechnic leadership must prioritize the acquisition and use of ICTs in their libraries and make budgetary allocation that could support that drive.
