This study aims to investigate the benefits, risks, barriers, and approaches of building informat... more This study aims to investigate the benefits, risks, barriers, and approaches of building information modeling (BIM) implementation in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industries. Descriptive research methods such as surveys and key informant interviews are used to gather data. Respondents in the survey come from different AEC companies and are selected with a purposive sampling method. Descriptive statistics and one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) are utilized to analyze the data. The narrative analysis method is also performed to validate the research findings through a desk review of secondary data. The result shows that the major benefit of BIM is earlier and more accurate design visualization, while the main risk is accountability and control of data entry into the model. Moreover, the major barrier to BIM implementation is the high acquisition cost, and the most recommended approach is to increase the availability of BIM technology.

People from different parts of the country and the world are mostly unaware on how to utilize these wastes and recycle them into useful and sustainable materials. One of the approaches in reusing these agricultural wastes is to utilize them as a substitute for wood in the fabrication of panel products. Cement-- bonded boards, for instance, is one of those restoration inventions of the 20th century which can be an alternative to timber products in constructing internal and external walls, partitions, ceilings, roof sheathing, to name a few. Using descriptive/survey research method specifically expert sampling method, key informant interviews, actual site observations and desk reviews of project documents (e.g., contract documents, plans and specifications, etc.), this study investigated and compared the causes and effects of Change Orders in public and private building construction projects and formulated recommendations and guidelines in order to address the problems brought about by Change Orders. Moreover, the existing change order management control practices being implemented by the contractors, consultants, and clients in response to the issuance of construction Change Orders were also identified and investigated.
