In this paper we are going to examine the case of Cantonese and Mandarin EFL learners in their pronunciation of syllable final plosives /p/,/b/,/t/,/d/,/k/and /g / of English words, and apply Optimality Theory to explain the pronunciation phenomena in the learners ’ interlanguage.
