The article contends that detailed accounts focusing on the practices of diverse actors and institutions within the ACDEG's multi-level governance framework and their-sometimes-frictional relations are necessary to develop appropriate future policy governing continental encounters with democratic governance. The paper introduces the different articles of the Special Focus which all address the fundamental question of how the implementation and impact of the ACDEG influence the African democratic governance landscape. Based on their analysis of key norms, actors, and processes, the inquiries in this Special Focus set out distinct directions for further empirical research and theorising about the ACDEG.

It argues that African countries have never lacked commendable ideas on how to deepen democracy, promote transparent governance, and sustainable development; but the challenge has always been the political commitment to transform the excellent good governance ideas and policies into practicable and sustainable development projects. It concludes that the solution to poor governance and ineffective anti-corruption policies in Africa is a collective will of both the political leadership and the citizens.

It argues that social statistics and civil registration are pivotal ingredients in promoting effective public service governance, public service delivery, and democratic and good governance. It however indicates that the two- statistics and civil registration are yet to be fully developed in many Africa Union Member States thereby affecting negatively public service delivery and development on the continent. It calls on all key stakeholders and actors for commitments to promote public sector governance for sustainable development in Africa.

It argues that the fight against corruption started first in some of the African Regional Economic Communities, particularly the ECOWAS and SADC but conclude that the Members of these Regional Economic Communities do not necessarily have better anti-corruption credentials than other AU Members from other African economic groupings. Thereafter, the piece chronicled the explanation and the challenges that influenced the African Union efforts in the fight against corruption and specified the different initiatives that the continental organizations embarked upon in the fight against the menace. It also highlights the accomplishment and the challenges of the African Union in the fight against corruption and other related offences in Member States. It draws attention to possible remedies to the challenges identified against the effort of the African Union in the fight against corruption in Member States. In conclusion, the paper argues that if the ongoing trend of corruption in AU Member States is not forestalled, the African Development Agenda 2063 may not yield the expected results.

It posit that article 27 (10) of the African Union Charter on Democracy, Elections and Governance adopted in 2007 has preventive provision on the sickness. It conclude that the current challenge of Ebola Fever in West Africa is due to the failure of the African Union, its Member States and relevant international institutions like the WHO to implement the Ebola prevention provision in the Charter.
