Innovation can deliver four types of benefits besides cash: knowledge, brand, ecosystem and culture. The main objective of the study was to establish the influence of innovativeness on the growth of SMEs in Kenya. The study adopted descriptive survey and exploratory design. The study targeted 4560 SMEs in Nairobi County who are registered by Ministry of Industrialization and Ministry of Trade. Regression models were used to examine the influence of innovativeness skills on growth of SMEs in Kenya. Questionnaires were used as the main data collection. Descriptive statistics and inferential data analysis method was to analyze the gathered data. The findings indicated that innovativeness influences the growth of SMEs in Kenya. The tendency of owner/manager to engage in and support new ideas, novelty, experimentation and creative processes results in new products, services or technological processes which has ...

Such outcomes could either result in a direct loss of earnings / capital or may result in imposition of constraints on bank’s ability to meet its business objectives. The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of credit risk management techniques on the performance of unsecured bank loans by commercial banks in Kenya.

Entrepreneurial process starts from development of entrepreneurial intentions. A large number of scholars have focused on the internal and psychological aspects regarding entrepreneur. However, little is known about how external factors can influence the development of entrepreneurial intentions. Entrepreneurial intentions is influenced by three key latent variables; perceived desirability, propensity to act and perceived feasibility. The researcher planned to use an entrepreneurial intention model developed theoretically based on the Shapero’s Model. The sample size was 133 respondents. The data collection instruments were questionnaire. The questionnaires were delivered to the selected respondents by visiting them in the organization during which observation was done. Quantitative data collected was analyzed by descriptive statistics using SPSS and presented through percentages, means, standard deviations and frequenc...

The main objective of the study was to investigate the influence of vendor inventory management on organizational performance in retail outlets in Kenya. The study adopted a descriptive research with survey of a total of 172 and applied a stratified random sampling technique to select a sample size of 86 respondents. Questionnaires were used as the main data collection Descriptive statistics and inferential data analysis method was to analyze the gathered data. The study concluded that that economic order quantity is affected by VIM thereby affecting organizational performance. The study recommends that VIM should be well implemented since it influences the organization to invest a lot of money in purchasing of inventory. Additionally the study recommends that organization should integrate all its inventory management functions with information communication technology as well as ICT realization. Organizations need to enhance Communication among staff members and customers.

The use of alternative and renewable energy resources is an attractive option to counteract climate change connected with the burning of fossil fuels. Moreover, improvements in fuel flexibility are a pre-requisite to meet the challenge of a sustainable production of energy in the near future. Within this context, oxygenated molecules, in particular ethers are of high interest because they can be produced renewably. In addition, ethers are promising considerably reduced emissions of particles and soot. In future, ethers might play a role as an alternative fuel (blend) for power generation in gas turbines and in the transport sector. Dimethylether (DME: CH3OCH3) and oxymethylenether (OMEn: CH3O(CH2O)nCH3) are regarded as some of the most promising alternatives to fossil fuels, in particular in compression ignition engines. In this work, we report on a combined experimental and modeling study: The oxidation of mixtures of dimethylether as well...

The determination of the amount of dividends payable is an important decision that companies undertake since the objective of the firm is to maximize the shareholders' wealth as measured by the price of the company's common stock. The study concluded that higher pre-tax risk adjusted returns associated with higher dividend yield stocks to compensate investors for the tax disadvantages of returns affected tax incentives and that investors whose portfolios had low systematic risk preferred high-pay-out stocks. This was consistent with Brennan's model (Brennan, 1970).The study also found out that an increase in firms' stocks trading volume affected the share price and investors who wanted current investment income owned shares in high dividend payout firms and this was consistent with the findings of Botha (1985). The study further concludes that free cash flow caused conflict between management and shareholders which in turn affected the share price and that the executive option plan persuaded management to reduce corporate dividends by an amount that was equal to the option plan. This was consistence with the findings of Lambert, Lanen and Larker (1989). The study recommends that companies consider all pertinent issues before issuing dividends. Since the share market is positively responsive to the dividend announcement, companies should always strive to pay divided consistently for their shares to perform well at the stock exchange. Dividend policy have an effect on the share prices of the firms quoted at NSE thus, companies (firms) should pay dividends to maintain high share prices.

Cardiac glycosides are composed of steroidal aglycone with a 5 membered lactone ring and acts on cardiac muscles. The purpose of this study was to investigate the antirodent activity of the root bark extract of Thevetiaperuviana and exploit the observed activity to formulate a commercial rodenticide. The root bark extract was exhaustively extracted using Water/Methanol (1:3) solvent system by cold percolation at room temperature. The extract was characterized using different Chromatographic, spectroscopic and chemical techniques. LD50 of the extract was determined as well as the histopathological effect on the liver. Pellets containing different concentrations of the extract were prepared and provided as feeds to adult mice (Balb C species). The mice behavior was observed on hourly basis for the first 4hrs and after every 3hrs for the next 72 hrs. The results exhibite...
